The song he'd been playing in the empty room not days before; it was still tugging on his mind. He needed to play in a place to give him some sort of inspiration, or else this song would be unfinished until Teddy went mental. Since he didn't really want to go mental, he decided to go out and look for a place that would help him.
He was still in his dorm, and he hadn't even gotten dressed yet. He was sitting on the foot of his bed, and he was lost in thought. Teddy was about to get ready, but he started thinking of the other day again. 'Why had Anna been listening? And why is it bugging you so much? I mean, you should be happy that someone likes your music.' He shook his head violently, pulling himself out of his thoughts.
He started to get dressed then, grabbing a plain red t-shirt, and a pair of dark blue jeans. Once he'd pulled those on, he wrapped a black belt through his belt loops; for good measure. His pants falling down in a public place was one of his worst fears. Teddy ran a comb through his hair, parting it to the side and letting a good chunk of his bangs fall over one of his eyes. His usual hairstyle? Yes. Did he care? No. He liked this hairstyle.
He grabbed his guitar, and shoved his feet into a pair of black vans. As you can probably tell, his favorite color is black. Teddy was just about out the door, when he did a double-take and grabbed his cellphone. Nobody called him on it accept his older sister and his mother, but he still took it with him everywhere he went. Now he was out the door, and heading outside.
Soon he was parked underneath a tree at the park, his guitar in his hands once more. The guitar case sat closed beside him. He let out a deep sigh, before shoving the pick into his mouth. This pick in particular, is what he used to chew on. Bite marks decorated every inch of it, but it still worked to play with. I guess you could call it lucky, if you want to. He leaned against the thick tree trunk behind him, and let his eyes soak up his surroundings.

Lexi had been walking back to her dorm, having just taken a walk around the park. She had felt like it was a casual day for her, and she had dressed the part. Low rise dark blue jeans with a white belt, a short sleeve green t-shirt with a motorcycle emblem worn over a long sleeve white t-shirt, and a pair of dark blue chucks. As she walks along the path, she turns to look at the people, and she sighs, thinking about some of her personal life. Making new friends, and keeping the old ones, was a lot harder sometimes than she thought it should be.
As she was passing a tree in the middle of the park, her dark eyes noticed a guy with a guitar in his lap. She always enjoyed live music, whether it was in a small club, or someone just playing in a public setting. But he didn't seem to be playing yet, and there also appeared to be something familiar about him. Stopping for a moment, she gazes at him, her eyes narrowing slightly in thought.
Then it came to her, Lexi had met this guy before, at some party she had gone to with Evelyn. And Evelyn had said that he was so important to her, he was a very good friend. Introductions had been made, and Lexi had talked a little with him. But his minimal responses, and her other distractions at the party, had made it hard for her to form some kind of opinion of him. And she felt that she needed to help Evelyn, her friend was beginning to worry her a little. Rumors of too many parties, and not enough sleep, they were starting to float around. And maybe this guy was involved in it somehow.
Making a decision in her mind, Lexi decided she wants to talk to him some more, and find out more about him. This was more for Evelyn's benefit, than for any desire she might have to get to know him better. Walking toward the tree, she slips her hands into her back pockets. as she is standing over him, she smiles slightly, as she thinks of what to say. "Hey! You're Teddy, right? I'm Lexi, one of Evelyn's friends, we met the other night." She wondered how he was going to respond, this was not going to be easy for her. But she was determined to go through with it.

Teddy finished off with his surroundings, and looked back at his guitar. "Alright, Mustang. Ready to do some work?" he asked quietly, hoping nobody was there to overhear. He started plucking out a small scale, playing all the notes there was to play on an acoustic guitar. He always liked to warm up everytime, no matter how good he was or is getting. He let out a light sigh once he was finished. 'Now, which song should I start with?' he asked himself.
He finally decided on the easiest one there was for him, which happened to be the first song he'd ever learned. Teddy was just about ready to play out the first chords to Smoke On The Water, when a shadow blocked most of the sunlight out. A little irritated, he looked up at the girl standing in front of him. Before he could say anything, she was speaking to him. That's when he recognized her, and the irritation melted from his expression. He had to be nice to this almost perfect stranger, since one of his best friends was friends with Alexia.
"Oh, hey." he said, and let out another small sigh. He was a little disappointed that he wouldn't be able to start playing right away. But I guess a conversation was good too. "Yeah, I remember you. Alexia, right?" He always had to double-check that he got the names right. He wasn't all that great with names, and they didn't fully sink in until the second or third meeting between him and the person. He stuck his pick back into his mouth, chewing on it absentmindedly. "Pull up a piece of grass, if you so desire." he added, gesturing to the grass around him.

He seemed a little irritated at first, Lexi thought it might be from the interruption. But then he seemed to recognize her, and she smiles, as he doesn't appear to be so irritated. She reminded herself that artists and musicians could be temperamental, and she wanted to give him a little break, just because Evelyn thought so much of him. But she wasn't going to give him much of one, if she though that he was going to hurt Evelyn.
Nodding slightly, as he says her name, she was glad that he did remember her. It would have been more difficult for her if he hadn't, and she wasn't sure if he had been drinking that night or not. "Yep, Alexia, that's me. But most people call me Lexi, it's a little easier to say. I think." She looked a little thoughtful as she explained about her name, maybe it was easier to say. She just preferred to be called Lexi.
As he offers her a seat, she smiles a little more, as she sits down, folding her long legs underneath her. "Thanks! I hope I'm not disturbing you, we didn't get a chance to talk much the other night. Evelyn says so many nice things about you. How long have you known her?" And she wanted to make sure that Evelyn wasn't hurt by him, but she wasn't going to mention it right then.
Pulling her dark, straight hair behind her ears, she gazes at his guitar, thinks of things that she wants to ask him. The guitar was a good place to start, it was an interest of his, and he was probably more willing to talk about it. Glancing back up at him with her chocolate eyes, she can see the attraction that Evelyn would have for him. "How long have you been playing guitar?" Best to start off simple, and see how things develop from there.

Teddy looked back down at his guitar longingly. He so wanted to play it; but he couldn't right now. Besides, who knew? Alexia seemed nice enough and he could end up with yet another friend. Friends seemed to be growing out of trees for him these days. Well, if you counted them he didn't have that many. But for a guy who didn't have any for the majority of his life, it was a lot.
He looked up at her again, realizing she was still standing. "Hmm. Alexia...Lexi...Yeah, I guess you could say it's easier." he said, and shrugged. He pushed his bangs a little more out of the way, so he could get a better look at her. He didn't know her all that well, but Evelyn seemed to like her a lot.
His eyes followed her as she sat down in front of him. "Yeah. Well nobody really gets to talk at a party." he pointed out, and gave her a smile. "Yeah, I've known her a while. Well, not that long. But it seems like forever." he added. "Bubbles--Evelyn says nice things about you too," he added. He yawned, covering his mouth and looking at his guitar as he did so. Once he was done, he looked back at Alexia.
Teddy let his eyes wander to his guitar again, and he put the pick to the strings. He began strumming quietly, so he could get his fix at the same time as talking to the girl in front of him. "My whole life." he answered. "Well, since I was ten to be exact. I wasn't actually playing when I was that little, but I used to just strum away on it. I found out I liked it, so I started teaching myself." With a little help of one of his friends, who was actually taking lessons of course. But the only real help he got from his friend was what the chords are.

Lexi could tell that Teddy was wanting to play, by the way he was looking at his guitar. Maybe she was interrupting, and he was just being nice to her because of Evelyn. She thought that he appeared nice enough, and she wondered if he would tell her if she were bothering him. Nodding, with a knowing smirk, she couldn't disagree with his logic of parties. They could be difficult places to talk, if there was a lot of people, or very loud music. "Yes, that is very true, parties can be the worst places. I guess that's why you see people sneaking off together, sometimes they just want to talk." A little joke, and a light laugh, as she listens to Teddy talk about Evelyn. It seemed that he did think a lot of her. He even had a nickname for her.
"Bubbles? Why do you call her that? And yeah, Evelyn's a good friend, I've known her for quite a while now." Not a very descriptive answer, but it was acceptable. Sometimes people didn't try to remember all of the details from their relationships. Lexi was like that too, it was a good, and normal, question to ask.
She follows his gaze to his guitar, and listens to him strumming it. It had always amazed her how people could get so much sound and emotion from a musical instrument. And she always liked to listen to music being played like this. Some music you could buy in the store just sounded so sanitized. "Well, that's pretty cool! Finding something that you like so much that you want to learn how to do it yourself. What kind of music do you like to play?" She was actually interested, the slight spark in her gaze was a true giveaway. Talking to musicians was always something that she found to be interesting. But it could also be a little frustrating.

Teddy continued strumming away on his guitar, but kept it at a quiet level. He hoped he wasn't giving her the impression that he wanted her to go away. There was more than one reason why he was strumming while they spoke. Around people he didn't know very well, he always got nervous. When he fidgeted with something, he wouldn't look as nervous. "Mm, that could be true actually. Accept most people that are sneaking off are doing more than just talking." he said, and smirked. He gave her a playful wink, before averting his eyes to his guitar once more.
She seemed pretty nice so far, especially with their conversation. It was going quite well, and if it kept going this good then all of his fears could be put to rest. He was always afraid of crossing one person, and then all of it blowing up in his face. He didn't want to relive the whole Regina thing, even if for a couple more years. Then again, usually by University people had grown up, at least a little; and didn't beat people up without a good reason for it.
He pulled himself out of his thoughts, looking back at Alexia as she spoke. His fingers went to work once more, since he'd stopped as he got lost in thought. "Uhh. Well, whenever she's happy she's always real bouncy and bubbly. So I call her Bubbles." he explained, and shrugged. "She calls me Teddybear. We have quite the relationship." He thought back to the lake, when they'd returned to Bubbles and Teddybear. What a wonderful day; something he'd remember for quite a while, if not forever.
Teddy let a couple notes get louder, since he'd kind of gotten into it. He was playing one of the songs he wrote, and he had just gotten to the climax-y, dramatic part of it. Of course, it wouldn't quite make sense to Alexia since she couldn't hear the lyrics. Teddy could though, since he was singing them in his head in between listening to Lexi and talking. "Yeah, I guess you could say it's cool." he started. "Uhh, I don't really know what I play..." He didn't know how to label his kind of music, since he was always the one playing it. If he was listening to it on a tape or CD, he'd label it better. "If you ask Evelyn, she'll probably know." he added. Evelyn had heard his music, after all.

Lexi was a little surprised, Teddy had a decent sense of humor, he had added onto her little joke. And there was a hint of playfulness there, it was a good sign to see. She chuckled, her mouth slightly open in wide smile, her dark eyes sparkling. "Yes, that is true, very true." She sees that he averts his eyes, and she thinks that he is maybe a little shy. She hopes that he won't be that way, once they got to know each other a little better.
Listening to Teddy describe Evelyn, Lexi realizes that his opinion of her was a lot more simple and direct than hers. It didn't make it a bad opinion, just a different one. And she could appreciate his perspective. And the pet names they had for each other made her laugh a little. "Bubbles, and Teddybear? That's so cool! And it does sound like quite the relationship, I'm really happy for you two." Very sincere, she hoped that Teddy could help Evelyn as much as he could, Lexi felt so loyal to her friends, it was almost automatic that she would help them out of any kind of jam.
She is picking up on the realization that Teddy is actually playing a song, as they were talking. That was impressive, he could talk and play at the same time, he must have a complex mind. His admission of not knowing what kind of music he played, and how she should ask Evelyn, made her lift her fine brows in mild surprise. "I will ask Evelyn, and see what she says. And was that some of your music? It sounded really good. I mean, I'm not a musician, but I liked what I heard." She was warming up to Teddy, and feeling a little more relaxed. She really could see some of the qualities that Evelyn probably saw in him, and she thought that he made a good friend for her.

Teddy nodded, giving her another smile. He didn't have much else to say to that though, so he didn't speak. 'Hmm...Lexi seems pretty cool. There's a chance we could be good friends.' Yet another friend for a guy like Teddy? Surprising, hey? Well, he'd been opening up more and nothing bad has happened yet. So why not keep trying? If all of it crumbles, than it'd be just like before. He'd be used of it already.
Hearing her next explanation, he found it amusing to think about. He'd never really heard anyone else's opinions on his and Evelyn's relationship. The feedback he was getting from Lexi though, he liked. "Yeah. Bubbles and Teddybear." he said, and laughed. It almost sounded dumb; now that he was talking about it with someone else other than Evelyn. "Our friendship is a little odd. But we're really close." Again, he thought of when she ran into him at the lake. They'd been hugging, holding each other, and even holding hands. And he knew there was nothing meant more than friends.
His coffee-colored eyes studied his guitar again, as he started playing chords with his opposite hand. He kept it subdued though. He was really interested in their conversation now. Especially with the possibility of another friend. "Yeah, that was one my songs that I wrote." he said, and nodded. "And thanks. It'd be better with the lyrics." he added, a little unnecessarily. Of course it would be. Any song is better with the lyrics. He looked up at Lexi again, letting his fingers rest for a moment. He no longer needed to fidget around her. The comments Evelyn had said about Lexi popped up in his mind, and he definetly agreed with them. So far, anyways.

Teddy's smile and laugh were good things to witness, it made him appear to be very human. Much better than just a passing introduction at a party, and it made Lexi feel a lot better about him. And she even laughed with him, it was a good to have a similar sense of humor. "Well, odd friendships can be good, and I'm glad you two are close. Your odd friendship secret is safe with me." With a sly smirk, and a quick wink, she felt that mutual friendship bond between them grow slightly. It was a good feeling to have, at least in her opinion.
As he talks about his music, Lexi's curiosity is growing, she wants to know more about Teddy's creativity. And his gaze meeting hers made her smile slightly, she felt that, under the quiet first impression, Teddy could be a sensitive guy. "Well, yeah, lots of songs are better with lyrics. Especially if they find a meaning in the person listening to them." A little uncertain about how far she could go to ask him to play for her, she bites her lower lip slightly, before she decides to be a little bolder. "Do you mind playing it again, and singing the lyrics? I would really like to hear them." She hoped that he would say yes, and she could get a better idea of what his music was actually like.

Teddy let his eyes fall on Lexi once more, and a smile flickered across his lips. It almost felt natural to be talking to her. As if they were friends before this chance meeting at the park. He'd almost forgotten about the guitar in his lap, since he'd stopped playing for the moment. "It's not really a secret. No one has asked though, so I guess no one knows." he replied, and shrugged lightly.
Once he'd heard his next question, he had an urge to get up and run away as fast as he could. He knew most musicians would share their songs they wrote to anyone. Teddy was the opposite, and he was afraid of people who asked about them. But since he knew there was a friendship growing between them, he fought that urge. "Umm, well, I only share the songs I write with Evelyn." he admitted. "Long story. I only share them with people I am really close to. And so far, that's only Evelyn." he added. He hoped Lexi wouldn't take offence to this. "But I'll play a different one for you. Not something I wrote, but I will play."

Teddy's smile was small enough to barely be noticed, but Lexi could see it. And she smiled back, this was becoming an infectious exchange that they were having with their facial expressions. Something that would happen between two good friends seemed comfortable between the two of them, and Lexi liked that a lot. With a slight laugh, she says, "Well, I was talking more about the pet names you have for each other. But don't worry, I won't tell, those names are almost too cute to be believed." Her eyes were sparkling, she was amused, and teasing Teddy a little was a good sign that she felt very comfortable around him.
Seeing how uncomfortable he was feeling after she asked about hearing his song, she regretted asking him to do it. It was actually very sweet that he only shared his original songs with Evelyn, and she couldn't really object to it. Shrugging her shoulders, and smiling in a reassuring way, she says, "It's cool, Teddy, I understand completely. And I would love to hear any song that you want to play for me." She was just interested in hearing him play, and she didn't want to upset anything that he had going on with Evelyn, she cared about her too much. That was part of reason she was talking to Teddy now, to see what he was like, and she was actually liking him. She felt very lucky in seeing him here in the park.
