Teddy gave her yet another smile. It was contagious, and he couldn't help it. "Or too weird to be believed, either one." he teased back, and chuckled lightly.
Once he'd requested to hear anything, he relaxed. "Alright. I'll play you one of my favorite songs then, since you seem to be dying to hear it." he said. Of course, he was only joking with her. He started playing once more, not letting her say anything else. The beginning part of this song had some guitar chords in the beginning, but it was short and his singing started almost right away.
"I think you can do much better than me After all the lies I made you believe Guilt kicks in and I start to see The edge of the bed Where your nightgown used to be I told myself I wouldn't miss you But I remembered What it feels like beside you..."
That feeling began returning to him. The same feeling he got when he played with Anna just the other day. Playing by yourself and playing for someone else were completely different. Teddy liked playing for someone else a whole lot better. The song was slow, and kind of sad. But he was letting himself get into it. These words kind of meant something to him; not with the girl in front of him, but someone else.
"I really miss your hair in my face And the way your innocence tastes And I think you should know this You deserve much better than me..."

And there was that flash of humor again, Lexi was getting to where she wanted to hear more of that part of his personality. Rolling her dark eyes, shrugging ever so slightly, she laughs as well. "Yep, there is that, no one might believe me. I guess it's really safe now."
Teddy seemed more at ease when Lexi said that she would listen to any song. She made a mental note of it, and she was actually a little excited that he was going to play something for her. Grinning at his joke, she watches him with her dark eyes, and she leans back, resting on her elbows on the ground, her long legs stretched out in front of her. "I could have said that I would die if I didn't hear it." Sharing these little jokes with him was something that she enjoyed doing, and it helped to relax her.
As the song started, and Teddy began to sing, Lexi just watched him, listening to the words. She could tell that he was really getting into playing it, and she thought he was very good at performing in front to her. This felt like something special, and she was a small part of it. And she felt very happy to be a part, she was enjoying the lyrics very much.

Teddy had heard her words, of course. But they sounded faint, as if she was far away. He didn't bother to reply, since she knew he was playing already. His fingers moved across the strings as quickly as they should, to go with the song.
"While looking through your old box of notes I found those pictures That you were looking for If there's one memory I don't want to lose That time at the mall You and me in the dressing room I told myself I won't miss you But I remembered..."
Teddy had definetly returned to that funk. He wasn't paying attention to anything around him. Nothing could really pull him out, accept himself. And of course, earthquakes or nuclear bombs.
"What it feels like beside you I really miss your hair in my face And the way your innocence tastes And I think you should know this You deserve much better than me The bed I'm lying in is getting colder Wish I never would've said it's over And I can't pretend that I won't think about you when I'm older..."
He finished it there, even if there was another verse to go. He slowly pulled himself out of the funk, before pulling his head up to look at her. "And the rest of it is just kind of..the same things over again."
[ I just decided to finish it. That could go on for wayy to long. ] /Song Credited To: Hinder-Better Than Me/

((I'm so sorry, I fell asleep! And yeah, I didn't expect you to do a whole song. )) The song appeared to mean a little more to Teddy, he was really getting into playing it. Lexi thought that maybe he was reliving some past memory, through the song. Songs did that to you sometimes, they could get so emotional, and you couldn't get enough of them. And this was a sad one, full of regret, and she felt it's effect on her, bringing out memories of old relationships. She tried not to let them get to her, after the normal period of grief, anger, and the occasional object throwing fit. Moving on was good for the most part, and she did feel regret at times. But not allowing it to linger for too long was also important to her. She sits up, clapping her hands together, as Teddy ended the song. Seeing that he needed a moment to recover, she stops, watching him with a slight smile on her lips. When he finally speaks, she meets his gaze, her smile slightly warmer. "That was amazing, Teddy, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for playing for me. Who's song is it, since you said it wasn't one of yours?" In a way, this helped her to feel a little closer to him, it was like learning a little intimate secret about someone. Something that you shouldn't really know, but you do anyway, and you know that you shouldn't tell anyone.

Teddy laid his head against the tree behind him, holding tightly to the guitar with both hands. That song was really emotional for him, no matter how much he liked it. It just gave him dozens of memories of the one girlfriend he had throughout his lifetime. It hurt whenever he played that song. But she'd been a big part of his life, and throwing her out of every thought for the rest of his life was a little harsh. At least, that's how he thought of it.
His senses kicked in once more, and he pulled the guitar close again, leaning his head towards it. "Good one, Mustang." he mumbled. He kind of hoped Lexi wouldn't hear that. But whether she did or not, he had to say it. He treated his guitar like it had a mind of it's own, and could play songs bad or good depending on whatever it's mood was. He didn't care that that was untrue, and a little weird to think.
Teddy pulled his head up once more, Lexi's words almost shocking him. An expression passed across his face, as if saying 'what are you doing here?' He had almost forgotten that she was there, and that she'd been listening. Then again, that happened a lot when he played emotional songs. Especially when he played his own music. It'd happened countless times to Evelyn. He shook his head a little bit, before replying, "Hinder. Better than me." His voice came out quiet and barely even passed his lips. Clearing his throat, he repeated himself louder so she could hear him.

Lexi watched Teddy do something that actually made her feel like she was intruding on something. He seemed to have an intimate moment with his guitar, and mumbled something to it that sounded like 'Mustang'. Questions pounded in her mind, as she wanted to know what he was doing, and why he was doing it. But everything was a little too new between them, and she didn't want to cross that line.
Teddy's look of confusion caused Lexi to arch her fine brows slightly, it was like he wasn't even there while he played the song. Some songs had that effect on her, but he was really feeling that one. As he speaks the name, repeating it louder, she knows that she doesn't want to embarrass him too much. Smiling, she didn't want him to close up on her, and she kept most of her questions to herself. "Thanks! I'll have to listen to it sometime. It just amazes me that songs like that can bring back so many memories, and make you relive them, all over again." She wasn't going to pry into his past too much, she wasn't comfortable about doing it. And if he played like that for Evelyn, she could see why Evelyn liked him so much.
Wanting to move away from what could be a touchy subject, Lexi tilts her head a little, as she thinks of her next question. "What else do you do with you free time, Teddy? Anything special?" She was still trying to get to know a little more about him, and she wondered what his other interests might be. She didn't think she was intruding on anything by asking.

Teddy felt a little embarrassed now. He didn't know if Lexi had heard what he'd said to his guitar, but if she did that'd be a little weird. If anything, he'd want her to ask about it. If she didn't, that would leave her with one impression of it, and it might be the wrong one. He always hated when people took one impression of someone else, and go by that. Why not just talk to them, and actually found out what their like? Not that Lexi was doing this. She seemed to be interested in finding more about him, since she had an endless supply of questions.
He rested his hand against the top of the guitar, and drummed his fingers against it. It made a slight hollow sound, since it echoed into the hollow part of the guitar. "Yeah. That song really gets me emotional." He didn't feel the need to explain it. She'd heard the song, he was sure she could guess why. "Plus, if a song can make you do that it's the sign of a good artist." he added, and shrugged. He wasn't sure if she meant that the song had taken her back to a certain memory or not, but he for sure wasn't calling himself a good artist. Tooting his own horn hadn't really been a liking of his.
With her next question, he just shrugged. "Ah, nothing really." he didn't really much want to get into the details of that question. It was true, he didn't do much. Accept hang out with Evelyn or Madison, sing or play guitar. The rest he was either talking to his sister or sitting on his ass. "All I know about you though, is your name. What is it that you do? Do you actually attend Rutherford?" He was asking this for two reasons: 1) he actually did want to know more about her, and 2) he didn't want her to ask more about his free time.

Lexi nods her head slightly, to agree with Teddy, and his description of the song, and how it affected him. Looking at the grass in front of him, she appears to be lost in thought. "Yeah, I saw that you were really into it. And you're right about the artist, it made me think about some things too. Things I hadn't thought about in a while." Realizing that she was speaking out loud, she looks back up at Teddy, meeting his eyes, and seems a little embarrassed. Trying to laugh it off, and rolling her dark eyes with a sigh, she smiles at Teddy, hoping he wasn't going to press her on what she had just revealed about herself, which wasn't much.
Lexi didn't believe Teddy when he shrugged off her question, everyone was into different things. Smirking playfully at him, she toys with the thought of teasing him about it, she was feeling that comfortable about it. "Oh, I'm sure it's more than 'nothing'. But I'll accept that answer. For now." But then he was asking her questions, and she moves on, mild amusement in her dark eyes. "Well, I used to deliver pizzas for this place downtown, but I saw the university, and I just had to go there." Chuckling to herself, she bobs her head, her eyes widening slightly. "Yes, I actually attend Rutherford, This is my second year. I'm an art history major, and I'm doing some work study with the Met in the city, while it's closed for renovations. Evelyn didn't tell you any of this?" She was wondering now what Evelyn had told Teddy about her, and how much she had left out.

Teddy leaned against the tree trunk, looking at Lexi again. She seemed rather deep in thought after his song. Had it meant something to her as well? Her words answered that question for him. He didn't want to pry though, and decided not to ask about what those things were. "Yeah. I know, I shouldn't even be thinking about her. But she was a big part of my life. Can't just throw her away like she did me." His voice was soft, and barely inaudible now. He was admitting something that, so far, he'd only said to Evelyn. It wasn't a real secret, he'd tell anyone that wanted to know. His head was down, looking at his guitar. His long hair fell over his eyes, hiding his face from Lexi.
Teddy tried to recompose himself a little, before pulling his head up once more. He pulled the guitar strap off of his shoulders, and set the guitar back in it's case. He listened to what she had to say as he did this. "Mm. No, she didn't. She told me more about what you were like, not what you do." he said. He had tried to get his voice back to a normal, more happy level. But the thought of his ex-girlfriend were weighing him down a little. This happened quite a bit actually, and it didn't take him long before he got happy again. But it did take a little time, once she made her way into his head.

With her little speech about how the song had made her feel, Lexi could see how it caused Teddy to open up a little more. And she was thankful that he didn't pry, she could talk about those kind of things only to people she was a little closer with. Teddy might be one of those people someday, he was sensitive enough to understand what she might be feeling. And he was saying some things that must be hard for him to say to her. "Teddy, that's so sad she treated you in that way. Sounds like you cared about her very much." As she sees him trying to hide his face, she felt a little sad that she had even said what she did. Lexi didn't want to make Teddy feel uncomfortable, but it appeared that is what she was doing to him. Sighing, she tries to make eye contact, and smiles at him. "If you ever want to talk about it, I can listen."
Lexi watches him put his guitar away, and nods slightly, it didn't really surprise her that Evelyn hadn't said much to Teddy about her. She liked Evelyn very much, as a friend, but sometimes Evelyn wasn't good with details. Not that those details were very important to know what she was like. "Oh, I see. Well, I hope that she told you some of the good things that I do. Like bring her cookies. She likes cookies, I think, unless she is just hungry every time I see her." She chuckles a little to herself, as she tries to joke about it. She hoped that Teddy wasn't offended by her sense of humor sometimes. Sighing, leaning back on one elbow on the grass, she gazes at Teddy with her brown eyes. "Anything else you want to know? Now is a good time to ask."
((this seems a little weird talking about Evelyn being Lexi's friend, when I haven't RPed her with Melissa yet O.o))

Teddy set his feet on the closed guitar case, still leaning against the tree. He was sitting parallel with Lexi, his arms folded across his chest. His head was turned towards the girl opposite him. He knew the feeling would pass quite quickly, especially with this girl being so nice to him. "Thanks." he said, and gave her a small smile. That's all he wanted to add on to the subject though. If he really wanted to talk to someone, he'd go to Evelyn. He wasn't all that close with anyone else yet, and that's the only person he felt comfortable telling absolutely everything too.
Lexi's mention of cookies just reminded him of the online conversation he had with Madison. They'd be come 'Cookie Whore' and 'Smart Cookie'; stealing all things sweet for one part of the week, and fighting crime for the other part of the week. He seemed to have his share of odd friendships. He smirked a little at her joke, his mood already lightening. "Well, that's Bubbles--damnit! Evelyn for you though. She eats a lot for a girl her size." At least, that's what he figured. Whether it was true or not, he didn't know. He only saw her when they were together, and they weren't odd enough to talk about how much they ate in a day. "Hmm..." What could he ask her? Well, he could ask all the questions she had him. That'd be a good start. Instead, he asked, "So, what is it about art that strikes your fancy?"

Returning Teddy's smile, Lexi can tell that he doesn't want to talk about it right now. She had felt a little sorry for him, and had made the offer, just in case. If he wanted to wait, or never talk to her about it at all, that was okay, she didn't feel upset about it. With a gentle bob of her head, she quietly says, "You're welcome." That was all she was going to say about it.
Chuckling a little at Teddy's slip in using his pet name for Evelyn, it was too bad she felt that she wouldn't share it with anyone. She could do some serious teasing of both Evelyn and Teddy, but that wasn't going to happen. She would just have to think of something else to tease them about. At least Teddy was a little happier, now that they had changed the subject.
And now he was asking her questions, which was fine, she felt comfortable enough around him to answer them. And she did get that question a lot, it was easy enough to answer. "Well, I saw this art exhibit when I was in high school. And some of the exhibits were so interesting to me, there were a couple that looked more like photos than paintings. I guess it was an emotional experience for me, like music can be. From that point I wanted to be more involved in the art world. It is something that I thought I really wanted to do, but now, I'm having second thoughts." She shrugs her shoulders, and smiles, feeling completely relaxed. This was nice, just having a conversation like this with Teddy.
