((I’m so sorry! I’ve been super-busy these last few days, forgive me? lol))
“Well, I certainly don’t expect you to do any of the heavy lifting but I’d love for you to come along.” He said, meaning every word of it. It’d be cool just to hang out with her for a little while. Besides, having a girl around meant he didn’t have to do any of the decorating. “You know, I think we’ve got pretty much everything.” He laughed, looking into their very full cart. He came back around behind her and laid his hands on her hips again, guiding her down to the cash registers. He rested his chin on her shoulder and looked up to her with his dark green eyes. “You wanna crash at my place tonight?” He asked, not intending at all to be suggestive. That was his last intention. “I just figured if we want to have a few drinks tonight, I’m not going to drive you home if I’ve been drinking and you’re sure as FUCK are not going to climb into a cab or walk.”
That was his thing. Even if Shane didn’t know a person at all and had been at a party with them, he’d offer a place to stay if they’d been drinking. To many people he cared about had gotten in trouble for drinking and driving or been hurt for the same reason. He wanted to get to know more about this girl and he didn’t want to do it in a hospital room feeling completely responsible.

[ it's totally okay, so have I. It's horrible. I promise I'll never leave here though ]
Kaylee laughed a bit. She loved his gentleman ways that he acted. She really wouldn't have cared if he would like her to do some heavy lifting, but she thought it was cute that he didn't want her too. She acutally could lift a bit though. She worked out at the gym and lifted weights. It wasn't like she was muscle woman that could lift a ton, but she was a bit stronger than the rest of the girls her age. She was a very psycially fit girl, not too skinny and deffintley not too large. She cared about how she looked, but not to the extent of it being creepy.
She nodded as they looked at the cart being quite full, she was very thankful she didn't have to pay for it all. As she realized how much crap he had grabbed she laughed a little. She knew, him being the guy that he is it would probably only take him a matter of days to eat it all. Not that she wouldn't be there being the pig that she is, helping him out. For a girl of her size it was unbelievable how much she could eat. Thank god her metabolism was fast other wise she'd weigh a ton. She started to unload the cart, placing the items onto the moving belt. She smiled at him sweetly and pecked him a small kiss as he rested his hands on her waist. After a few minutes of unloading the over abundent cart the total finally came up on the register. She watched as he took out his card and paid for all the grocery's. She smiled with thanks to him for the things that he bought for her.
"I would love to help unpack and set everything up for you." She said as she pushed the cart full of the grocery's in their bags, out to his car. He had mentioned her spending the night and she could have screamed with joy.
"I would love to stay. A few drinks tonight would be wonderful." She smiled sweetly running her hand along his back as she undloaded some of the groceries. She laughed thinking of herself walking back to her dorm from his apartment, completely trashed. She hadn't been drunk in forever. After sophomore year in high school she was too focused on her grades to get into Rutherford that she didn't party at all. But if he had only seen her before sophomore year you would think that she wasn't going anywhere with her life. She probably wasn't that far from him as she used to live in Cali and so did he. She was excited to head back to his place, drink, eat the food she was gonna make, and just be with him.

Shane didn’t care if she could lift an entire elephant with her pinky finger- he would do all the heavy lifting. But what he knew from her already, it would be difficult for him to talk her out of organizing and unpacking everything and anything that had to be organized. Hey, he could have been wrong but what did he know?
He almost wanted to cry as the total was brought onto the screen, but he winced and forked over his bank card anyway. “Oh the things we do for food.” He said, letting go of her so he could punch in the numbers on the keypad. He watched as she started putting the groceries back in his cart and he smiled to himself. God she was pretty. He thanked the young girl at the cash register with a beaming smile and helped load the rest of the groceries in the cart, walking out with her with his arm around her shoulders. “That would be awesome.” He smiled, leaning over and kissing the side of her head as they made their way to his car. He unlocked the trunk and helped loading all of his stuff into the back. He was a bit surprised as some of the health food stuff snook into his trunk- she must have thrown it in there but he ignored it nonetheless. He had a feeling she’d be around for a while, and not everyone could live off of pop tarts and chocolate Easter eggs.
“Alright, it’s a plan then.” He said, opening the passenger side door for her before he ran around to his own, slamming the door shut and starting the engine. “All I need to do when I get home…is, well…everything.” He laughed. Once she was I and buckled up, he couldn’t help himself. He kept the car in park as he leant over, caught her chin with his fingertips and kissed her gently, smiling against her lips. He pulled away, his grin spreading quickly. “Okay, we’re good to go.” He laughed, sitting back in his chair and driving out of the parking lot.

Kaylee smiled and nodded, he was right, that was a lot of money for food. But hey, she did try to warn him a couple aisles back. "Hey, I warned you goof ball." She smiled wider as she agreed with him. She watched and waited patiently as he entered his PIN number, he kissed the side of her head and she smiled.
She was always a big help to people, a hard worker is what her therapist said part of her personality was. Anything and everything that should could do, she would. Hopefully she would be a good mother when she got older. She knew she probably would be, because of her love for kids, but partly because she would be all of the things that her family wasn't. She would try hard to be the perfect mother, and always be there for her kids so they didn't turn out like her. She didn't know Shane's story but part of her knew that deep down he would do the same. Something had happened with his family and his father. Shane would be a wonderful husband and a wonderful father to someone, and somebody some day. Not that part of her didn't get a little jealous when she thought of some woman walking down the aisle on their wedding day with Shane. She knew they were too young, and that it probably wouldn't be her, he was marrying but she hoped that some day she would find another man exactly like Shane for herself.
He was a good protector, something Kaylee found extremely attractive. He treated her so gently so kind, always thinking of her needs as well as his. He had a true heart and most of the time that's the reason why she smiled. They pushed the cart out to the car and she helped him empty out the cart and put everything in the trunk. After the cart was empty she took it from Shane's hands and ran it over to the cart-return. She smiled as she approached the car again, he quickly ran around and opened the door for her. Her heart almost felt weightless as she was swept off her feet. His kind acts made her feel like a princess.
She was excited for a night alone with him doing whatever they pleased. Not that she was planning to do anything sexual with him but the thought couldn't help but linger in the back of her mind. She wasn't that great with sex. She wasn't a virgin, she lost it when she was 15, but after that all the sex she ever had was with guys she barely knew. She wasn't a slut, I'm sure it came off as that, but she just wanted to be loved. She met guys, they were sweet, caring and showed interest in her. She thought it was for real and these same butterflies came to her. Then they would have sex and they'd leave, never to show up again. Her heart was broken bad the first time, but after it happened many more times she almost expected it to happen. She should have learned from her mistakes, and not fall for men like that, but she couldn't help it. She hoped, but deeply knew, Shane would not be like that. He was different then the rest. She could feel the genuineness in his kiss, she could see the sincerity in his eyes.
He took her chin and gave her a soft kiss. She lingered on his lips a bit and then pulled away. She was happy with them, and she knew by his smile he must be as well. They felt good, they didn't feel like they had messed up their friendship, but they weren't in too deep. It was all very good. He pulled out of the parking lot and drive the 5 minutes back to his apartment. All of his stuff was in boxes that the mover had left. He parked the car in the back parking lot and popped the trunk. She exited the car and went around to the back grabbing a couple bags and caring them up the stairs. She wasn't sure where his apartment was so she waited at the top of the steps for him to show her the way.

Shane had always been extremely protective of every woman in his life- even his mother. And when it came to his friends, he’d be the first to take the fall for something, even if he hadn’t been in on it. He had a smooth way of talking himself out of trouble that was rather uncanny. He was rather proud of that to be honest. He was brought up to believe that every girl was a princess and she deserved to be treated as such, and he was okay with that life lesson.
Shane didn’t have any motive for that night. The last thing on his mind was getting into her pants; all he wanted was a night just to chill with her. If some tonsil hockey ensued, then so it did, but he didn’t expect anything from anyone- he never had. He had never pushed anything on anyone and he wasn’t going to start now. He certainly wasn’t a virgin, he had lost that a long time ago. But he also wasn’t a crazy sex fiend who thought about it day in and day out from his cheerio’s in the morning to brushing his teeth at night. Whenever he had had sex it had been great though. Mostly because it was always with a girl he cared about. He wasn’t one of those one night stand kind of guys, it just wasn’t his thing.
He pulled into the address his mother had given him and looked up at the looming apartment building. “Hm, well this should be fun.” He mumbled, turning the key in the ignition and listening as the engine died. He huffed, placed his keys in his mouth and climbed out of the car after her, slamming his door shut and grabbing a few bags after her out of the trunk.
When they got upstairs some of his boxes were laying in front of his door, taking up most of the hallway. “Wow, my neighbors must hate me already.” He laughed, rather muffled by the keys in his mouth. He dropped the groceries beside him and took his keys out of his mouth, unlocking the door to the apartment, awed.
He had never lived in an apartment before, but this one was impressive. “Oh wow…” He laughed, throwing his keys on the counter, grabbing the groceries and walking in. The majority of his stuff was in the apartment- he could have sworn his mother packed their entire house and sent it to him. He looked around at the huge living room, the three sofas looked like they were meant for running and jumping on. He grinned and almost did it before he looked at the phone set up for him on the kitchen counter- there were already two messages. He looked over at Kaylee and grimaced. “I’m going to apologize to you in advance.” He said, walking over, jumping on the counter to sit and pressed the flashing red button.
The first was from someone with a painfully familiar voice. “CALIFORNIA SHANE! CALIFORNIA BRIAN IS BORED! GET HOME YOU TWAT!” Beeeep. Shane hung his head, shaking it and looking back to her. “You see what I mean?” He laughed. He deleted the message from his best friend and played the next one. “Hey sweetie, hope you got everything alright, I ended up coming down with the movers to make sure everything was okay, and I gave all your friends your new home number because Brian wouldn’t leave me alone about it.” The sound of his mothers laugh made him so homesick it almost hurt. What was this?!?! He was a grown man now! “Anyway, I hope you have fun sweetie, call me tomorrow. Love you.” Beeeep. He smiled and jumped off the counter, ruffling his hair. “And that was my mom.” He laughed again, standing in the middle of his kitchen and looking at their assortment of bags. “What the hell am I going to do with all this?” He said, looking up to her with wide eyes.

Kaylee was thoroughly impressed by his apartment the second she walked in. She gave it a little personal nod to herself as she looked around. She was proud of him, or his mom. She wasn't sure who found it, but they had done wonderfully. She even thought for a second maybe she could get her own apartment, or maybe she could move in with him. She quickly shook that thought out of her head and almost laughed to herself. She'd barely known Shane, yes she was amazed by his every movement and his lips tasted like joy, but moving in was a bit much, that is, unless he asked.
She smiled to herself as she thought about the colors of the wall, white. She was thinking there could be a tiny bit improvement. She hoped that he'd be able to paint the walls so that maybe she could help out. She always did have a slight way with designing. Interior Design should probably be her major in college but she just never got the energy to do it. But maybe this was her calling, maybe she was meant to help Shane out. Buy some furniture here, paint a wall there. Hopefully she wasn't getting too out of her mind.
She helped unload the groceries into the refrigerator that stood in the far corner of the kitchen. It felt vaguely familiar to open up a fridge and see it completely empty. This might have been weird to her if that wasn't how she spent her entire childhood. Most people upon opening an empty fridge would be astonished that nothing was in there, for Kaylee it was a simple reminder that she took care of herself. She pulled orange juice and milk out of the bags placing them into the refrigerator first. She listened as Shane played the voice mail message and couldn't help but let out a laugh. She would love to meet Shane's friends. Was that weird? She thought to herself, they weren't really a couple yet, or even at all. They had only kissed a couple of times and she was wondering what his friends were like. After a few minutes of pondering and placing the cold cut meats into a drawer she decided it wasn't weird. I mean they were friends, there isn't anything wrong with wanting to meet another friend, friends. At least she wasn't thinking about meeting his parents. She smiled to herself. The crazy thoughts she has.
She placed the last grocery into the cupboard and threw herself onto the newly placed couch. What a long grocery trip that was, it was like feeding a family of five, yet it was for one grown man. She popped her head up and looked over the edge of the couch back over at Shane in the kitchen, she smiled to herself a bit as she watched him messing with the groceries, placing them in the order he liked. She sat up all the way and smiled at him. "Hey good-looking." She said calling over to him into the kitchen. Shane looked up at her and smiled. "Get over here you." She said again as she patted the spot next to her, gesturing for him to come over. As she watched him walk she thought about tonight, how relaxing it would be to have some drinks, and to be in the presence of a gorgeous man.

Shane lugged boxes where they were supposed to be, planning to unpack all of them later. For now, it would just be the accessories. He grinned as he found his living room had-to-haves. His X-box, his DVD player…his life? Yeah pretty much. He was an old horror movie junkie, and a sucker for anything like Indiana Jones or Star Wars. He was a bit of a geek on his spare time. He looked over to her in the kitchen and smiled. “Thanks for helping me today, Kaylee.” He smiled as he tugged the sweater over his head, throwing it on the arm of his black sofa. For some reason, he knew he was going to have more fun in this apartment then he could handle.
He finished unloading the boxes of DVD’s onto the shelves he had set up and dusted off his hands. They weren’t exactly alphabetical, but hey. He could deal. He grabbed the empty box and walked back into the kitchen, nuzzling his nose into her neck playfully before moving on. To the garbage disposal down the hall. When he got back into the apartment, she was lazing on the couch like a champ. He had to laugh. When she gestured him over, he had to follow. He made his lazy way over and flopped onto the sofa, resting his head on her lap and looking up to her.
“Okay. Well, my movie collection is at your demand.” He laughed, turning his head so his cheek was resting on her thigh as he looked over at his shelves upon shelves of movies. He even had some Disney mixed in there. His mom had loved Finding Nemo, he had stolen it as an incentive for her to come down and visit him.

Kaylee looked over at Shane's DVD collection. She nodded, she was impressed by the number of DVD's he owned. "Not a back collection Phillips. Not bad." She said softly as she kissed his forehead and picked his head up that was leaning on her thigh. She laughed a little as she stood up and plopped his head back down on the couch. She walked over to the collection and bent down to check out the hundreds of movies. What movie should they watch.. there were so many good ones to choose from. She found the perfect one, she knew it was the one as soon as she read the title. She pulled it out slowly and stood up with a smile on her face. She turned to Shane and showed it to him. "Garden State, pleaseee." She begged a little waiting for his approval.
She loved the movie Garden State, it explained her in so many ways. Completely and ridiciously out there and different, each of the characters going through difficult and emotional times. She watched this movie religiously but it never got old. After Shane approved she smiled wider and popped the DVD into the player. She hurried back to the couch and curled up with him again. She asked him if he was comfortable. "Hey, how about a beer?" She asked. They had mentioned some drinking tonight and she really felt like a drink. She needed to let loose, let everything go, just have an amazing night with a great guy.

He scrunched his nose up as she kissed his forhead and worked with her as she moved his head so she could get up. His head dropped heavily back onto the cushion of the sofa as she searched through his wonderful movie collection. He watched her searching and was quite interested in what movie she’d pick. You could tell a lot of people by movies they chose to watch- for some reason he didn’t pick her for and old-skool horror kind of girl, or an extreme thriller kind of girl. His bets were on something Disney or something abstract. And how close was he? He laughed as she asked him for Garden State and he nodded. “Why the hell not?” He asked, okaying it for their evening movie.
Lifting his head, he waited until she was settled into the sofa again before resting his head on her lap. He was comfy as possible, but of course it was only THEN she reminded him. “Oh shit! Sure.” He said, jumping up himself this time and grabbing a few cans from a box on the counter and throwing them in the fridge. “We’ll give them a bit to get cold enough.” He laughed, flopping back onto the sofa again and grabbing the DVD remote. “Ready?” He asked, tilting his head to look up at her.

Shane was so cute in his little gestures he made with his face, his hands and every movement that he did. After he had laid his head in her lap, only then did she remember about the beer. She felt bad as she mentioned it, but hey, they were going to have a great time together. He jumped up and grabbed a couple throwing them in the fridge to keep them chilled. She agreed that, that would be a better idea then drinking them warm. He plopped back onto the couch ontop of her and made himself comfy. She smiled and laughed a bit as his movements tickled her a bit. She nodded down at him as they prepared for the movie. His long and masculine fingers pressed play on the remote and he placed it down on the ground.
Kaylee looked down at his head full of hair. She smiled to herself as she admired him. She took her little fingers and ran them through his hair, brushing his head lightly. She was sure if felt good to him. She loved when people cradled her in their lap and played with her hair. It was relaxing and often times put her to sleep. The soft pressure of their fingertips running through her hair was like a soft lullaby. She thought she would share this delight with Shane. She wasn't sure if he shared the same likeness in this feeling but if he didn't he'd let her know.
His hair was soft and had a nice shine to it. After a few minutes she forgot she was watching a movie. As she directed her attention back to the movie she continued to run her fingers through his hair gently. She placed her other hand on this side of him, feeling his muscle through his thin shirt. She was sure the skin under his shirt was just as soft as the shirt itself. Part of her yearned to touch his bare skin with her fingertips. They wanted to explore every inch of him, learning his every shape. She looked down at him and kissed his head softly on the top, and smiled. She knew momentarily he would look up at her and smile back at him, then she could sneak a quick kiss.

"Excellent." He nodded, pressing play and letting the remote fall to the ground out of his hands. The opening credits played through, but for some reason all he could focus on was the way her fingers played with his dark hair, twisting their way through the strands like a dance. If he had been tired it probably would have put him to sleep, but at the moment it was just making him feel completely lazy and comfortable.
He felt her tender touch through the fabric of his shirt and he smiled the smallest little bit, looking up to her as she kissed the side of his head. He turned his head so he was looking up at her, slowly leaning up so he could catch her soft lips with his own. He pecked her softly before pulling back to smile up at her again. She was beautiful.
In the few moments that passed, he sat up and rested his back against the corner of the other sofa, patting his chest for her to come and nestle in with him. Movie night wasn't movie night without someone to cuddle with, and perhaps he could make a good enough pillow for her.

It almost always seemed to Kaylee that the second he touched her lips with his, her breath was taken away. She smiled down at him as she brushed a single hair away that had fallen into her face. His deep eyes stared up at her for what was only a couple a seconds but to her felt like eternity. He rolled over and leaned up against the edge of the couch and offered her an area to lay. He patted his chest lightly motioning to her to rest her head on him. She smiled wide at him, almost as if he could read her mind. She gently placed her head against his chest and automatically the beats of his heart echoed threw to her ears. It was peaceful and relaxing, the soft tone that his beats took.
As the movie played on she continued to lay on his chest, playing with his fingers from time to time, and leaning up to kiss him about every 15 minutes. Her mouth began to feel a bit dry and her stomach growled a bit. She finally sat up and looked at him. "I'm starving" She laughed a bit, realizing that the whole day, they planned on cooking mac and cheese, and never did. The remembrance of the beer in the fridge almost made her more thirsty. She opened the fridge and grabbed one, tossing it to Shane she asked him to remained seated as she cooked some quick food. She opened the fridge again, grabbing herself a beer and popping it open. While the fridge was opened she made sure to grab the indredients for the mac and cheese, the milk and butter. She opened the cabinet and grabbed a box and placed it on the counter. She sure hoped that Shane had pots and pans, or making mac and cheese would be extremely difficult. She open and shut cabinet after cabinet before she found them in the oddest place. In the oven. She was sure Shane's mother had brought some by and didn't have much time to unpack. She looked over her shoulder back at Shane as she filled the pot with hot water and turned the stove on high.
"How you doing in there babe?" Kaylee called from the kitchen.
