"Bah, I figure i've made fun of you enough to day, I deserve my digs." He laughed, placing his guitar beside his bed where it had been before she had walked in the room. "She certainly is." He agreed when she commented about his mother. His mother was the most beautiful woman in the entire world, no one could convince him otherwise. She was a child of the 60's, a hippy through and through. Well, before his father had been promoted anyways.
"Ahh, you found them. They were a birthday present." He laughed. Of course she'd find the most embarassing ones. Naturally. "Yes ma'am." He rolled his eyes and flopped over onto his stomach, burying his face into his puffy old pillow. It was slightly hard to breathe, but he was a gentleman. Life was little to sacrifice for dignity. When it was okay for him to open his eyes again, she was sitting at the end of his bed, looking rather comfy. "Well you look better in them then I do." He laughed, patting the spot beside him for her to come up if she liked.

"You could say that again. I could make fun of you for the rest of the year and we still wouldn't be even." She smiled. She liked the polar bear boxers. She was proud of her findings. She was always good like that. Put her in an unknown room and she'll find the funniest thing in there that will embarrass the crap out of them.
Kaylee wish she knew her mother better. She wish she had, had a women to teach her girl things. Like make up and her period and things of becoming a women. Especially men. Kaylee felt that she had so many problems with guys because of the lack there of a mother. It's not like her father even looked at her, let alone sat down and asked her who she liked. But she wouldn't get upset. She was her with Shane and she was about to change this kids life forever. He was gonna cook Mac and Cheese. She was appreciative of him as she changed. Most guys were assholes and would stand their and stare just because she asked them to not look. "Nice tits." wasn't an uncommon comment from some of her friends. Normally she'd slip on the shirt and whack them afterwards. She was glad Shane wasn't going to be needing and whacking.
He rolled over and looked at her. She smiled. "Thank you" She said to his comment about his clothes. She looked over at the dresser again. "Shane, I have a feeling I'd look a lot better than you in ALL of your clothes." She giggled at the fact that they had a little war going on between them. She scooted up the bed and laid next to him looking up at the ceiling. It felt so good to relax. The picture of Shane and her mother flooded threw her head. She couldn't stop thinking about her own mother. She struggled to remember what she looked like. The sound of her laugh, anything she could get. She turned over to Shane. "Shane, tell me about your childhood. Was it happy?" She hoped it would be. She liked hearing about children laughing and running threw fields. Everything hers wasn't.

"Oh shut up woman- get back in the kitchen." He moaned, flopping his face back into his pillow and laughing as she commented about looking better than him in his own clothes. Please, he knew he was a hottie. Soon enough though, it became hard to breathe and he looked back up to her.
He wondered what she was thinking. It was an odd thought at the time, but he couldn't help himself. She looked so innocent there laying on his bed- which was rather ironic cause she was wearing all of his clothing. But all the same...and then the question she asked just made her seem even more innocent. "Well what do you wanna know kiddo?" He asked, turning over so he was on his side, looking at her. "Yeah, I had a pretty good childhood. As good as can be expected I guess." He had grown up a happy kid, but what more was there to talk about? "Ask me questions, and I shall answer them." He wasn't one of those people that could just talk about himself. It made him feel awkward.

She laid on his bed playing with her hair. She knew that it was probably an awkward random question to be asked but she was thinking about her childhood. She never really had much time to compare hers to others. She kind of just thought hers was normal. She nodded. She was glad he was a happy kid. He seemed like one that deserved it. She leaned over on her side and watched him. "Tell me about your mother.. did she do motherly things with you?" She wish she could explain her weird infatuation with his mother. It's just that she never had one, and it was her fault. She hoped she wouldn't have to tell him what happened but part of her wanted to get it off her back.
"Would she take you to parks and on playgrounds? What was your favorite meal she made? Was she good at singing?" Kaylee began shooting questions all over the place for Shane to answer. It was interesting to her to think of what a mother could have been.

His mother had always been the light of his life. She was the first woman he had ever loved in a sense, and she was certainly the most important in his life. He knew how a lot of his friends treated their parents, their mothers especially, like they weren’t even humans. He had heard them swearing at their parents because their curfew was 3 am instead of 5, or because their parents wouldn’t let them borrow the car. It was something he just didn’t understand. His mother was the most important person in his life, he couldn’t even imagine speaking to her like that. He listened to her flow of questions and all of a sudden felt incredibly homesick.
“Yeah, she used to take me to the park all the time after school when I was a kid.” He said softly, looking down at his comforter. He remembered how she used to push him on the swings, and as he got older, whenever she was upset about dad, he’d take her to the park and then it was HIS turn to push HER on the swings. He never minded. He knew how his dad was and bringing her to the park or going for a walk to get ice cream with her always made her happy. She always said he was her baby boy, and nothing in the world could change that. “Whenever I was sick, she used to make me chicken noodle soup and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.” He laughed lightly, turning back onto his back and staring up at his ceiling. “That was always my favorite. Even when she knew I was faking sick she’d stay home with me and play video games all day. When I was little, we’d curl up and watch movies together all day.” All of this almost turned a knot in his stomach. He had left her? With that man? But she had wanted him to move on, move away and grow up like a man, and he’d always do what she wanted him to.
“Ah, she had the voice of an angel.” He almost whispered. Even still now, he could remember her singing him to sleep every night. His dad always said he had gotten his musical talent from his mother, and it was absolutely true. “I always knew she was happy when she was singing.” She didn’t sing very often.

Kaylee loved to hear about Shane's mother. From her picture to her memories Kaylee wished she had in some way known her. She rolled over on her stomach listening to explain and answer all the questions that she had asked. She could tell she was hitting a sensitive spot with him. He mentioned when he was sick what him and his mother would do. Her mind raced, why had she done that to her family. Why was she such a selfish person to do what she did. She wasn't that mad at her. Kaylee spent nights awake with the guilt eating away at her. She wanted a mother so badly, she would have paid a woman to care. She began to choke up a bit thinking about Shane as a kid with his mother and the childhood she didn't have. She tried terribly hard to not break out in tears. It'd be embarrassing and he'd think she was crazy. She breathed in hard and her face turned pink. A big tear drop fell from her eyes. She knew this was a hard topic for him as well. Why had she even brought it up.
"We can talk... about something else if you'd like..." She said whipping the tear that had landed on his pillow quickly. She looked down at it. "Sorry." She exclaimed wiping it off the pillow trying to get rid of it.

"Naw, I don't mind..." He said, turning to look at her, but the tear stain clinging to her cheek and her frantic effort to get the tear drop off of his pillow stopped him. There had never been a moment in time where he had felt more like an asshole. She hadn't grown up with a mother, and here he was talking non stop about his. He gently reached to her and wiped away at that tear trail leading down her cheek.
"You have to stop being so sad Kaylee..." he said softly, slowly raising himself up so he was leaning up on his elbow looking down at her. "Or i'll have to kiss you again."

She rubbed the pillow harder. She was already embarrassed. She laughed a little bit when she mentioned her getting happy or he'd kiss her. She rolled back onto her back and tucked part of her face into his shirt. Almost being shy. "God, that'd be the worst. I'd cry harder." She giggled a bit feeling a little better. She looked over at him.
"I miss my mom." She said blatantly. "I didn't get to know her that well." She said. She wasn't that sad anymore. She came more of the realization that she couldn't bring her mother back, even if she tried hard, or even if she cried. She shouldn't make people who were privileged to have a mother feel ashamed that they had those times.

He laughed, happy that he had made her smile a little again. “Oh shut up woman- you liked it.” He teased, grabbing his pillow and whacking her with it gently. He pulled his pillow back and lay his head on it again, listening to her as she spoke to him. Her voice was so tiny, but it was the only thing he was focused on in the world right now. It was important to him because he knew she was hurting, and that was the last thing he wanted for any of his friends.
“Has she ever tried to contact you?” He asked, rolling over onto his stomach again and turning his face to look at her. He couldn’t imagine life without his mother now, never mind his entire childhood. He didn’t know what would have happened to him. As much as he knew his father loved him, he couldn’t manage with just him. It would be impossible. He’d grow up empty. He probably would have ended up moving in with Uncle Bob- not that that would have been too hard. Uncle Bob was amazing.

Kaylee put her hands up in protection from the pillow but he whacked her anyways. She laughed a little as he hit her. "Suuuure. You lovedd it." She said joking around with him. It was funny how they teased each other. She pulled down a bit on his boxers as they began to ride up at bit.
She shook her head. "No. I wish she could" She paused for a second. "She's dead.". She pulled back a hair that was in her face and tucked it behind her ear. She smiled at him softly. She wanted to let him know there were no hard feelings. She wasn't going to start crying again and she's had years of grieving.

The way she said it was just so blunt. He knew she had had time to get used to the fact that her mother wasn’t going to be around, but even then he was surprised. But who the hell was he to judge right? He had had the almost-perfect upbringing. He didn’t even have to imagine life without a parent, never mind how it would have felt loosing that parent in the first place.
“What happened?” He asked in almost a whisper, reaching over and brushing her damn hair away from her face. A lot of people never wanted to talk about things like this, but he figured it was okay to ask. He felt he had known her long enough that it wasn’t dangerous territory anymore. They had kissed in the rain and now they were laying here on his bed talking about their childhoods, what better time to ask than now?

It was her deepest darkest secret. Something she never shared with anyone. Not that anyone ever cared in the first place. She looked back down at the pillow as the memories of that summer afternoon came about. They were horrible, painful, and for the rest of her life, she'd be to blame.
"The newspapers said it was her own fault, that it was a simple accident." She explained partly. She didn't know if she should tell him. She trusted him more than anyone, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to have that person hate her as well. She took a deep breath in hard and swallowed. "They were only trying to keep my record clean, they didn't want to have their 6 year old get in trouble for killing their own mother... I killed her." Finally it was out. She knew she didn't want to cry but it took all her might to fight the tears back. She bit her lip. "We were doing construction on our house, they wanted a balcony. I was upset because she wouldn't let me go to gymnastics." She laughed a little bit. Like a thing like gymnastics was as important as her own mother. "I was upset, and angry. She told me if I didn't stop bothering her while they were working on the balcony that she wouldn't take me for the rest of the week." Kaylee stopped for a bit, taking a breath. "That's when I pushed her.". She looked down again as the tears, small and slow dripped down her face. "I didn't do it on purpose, I loved her ... really, I did. I was just young and upset... I didn't know it would end her, forever."
