Anna stepped through the crimson red corridors, her barely-heeled sandals making the tiniest click on the hardwood flooring. Her slender figure was surrounded by multiple other bodies, both male and female. She recognized a few of the people whirling around her, though she couldn't provide any names: she just remembered seeing them on or around the Rutherford campus. It wasn't too unusual to see students flocking around the New York bars and clubs. Huntley was so close to the big city that it was almost normal to meet up with friends and go dancing in the city.
Earlier in the evening, Anna had arranged to meet one of her friends from school at Deep. Glancing up at the clock on the entrance wall, Anna knew she had plenty of time before her friend arrived. She had managed to catch the train to the city much quicker than she had assumed, leaving her with a good thirty minutes to herself. Though she felt a little out of place, the timid feelings were not visible on her face. She had come to this particular club alone once and left successfully without any repercussions. She wasn't too nervous standing in the lobby now.
A few minutes ticked past, slowly but surely. Anna shifted her weight and watched the crowd move from room to room. The sound of pop punk, classic rock, and the typical top forty came from every corner of the spacious club. Eventually, Anna grew weary of standing and waiting around. She still had a good twenty-seven minutes to kill and her patience was already wearing thin.
Slipping carefully into the throng, Anna made her way across two rooms and into the same room she visited a few months prior. Her eyes flickered across the crowd in hopes of recognizing someone. Unfortunately, she had no luck in that department and found herself waiting alone. She wasn't thirsty, so she avoided the bar. Instead, she pressed her back against the cold wall in the back of the room and watched the flashing lights and swirling bodies. Hopefully the next twenty-five minutes would pass by quicker than usual.
