Sitting outside in the warm sun, shading her eyes with a pair of cheap sunglasses, Lexi watches the people coming and going to the local Starbucks, as she sips from her mug of warm coffee. The mug made her smile to herself, had it been that over a month ago, when she had first met Christian on that fateful rainy day? It had been sheer luck, and she had enjoyed every minute of it, leaving her wanting more. But it was a work in progress, and she was wanting things to move a little faster. Maybe they would, and maybe they wouldn't.
And that thoughtful memory brought other memories with it, especially what had happened the night before. She had been at a party, enjoying herself as usual. There had been some really drunk people there, and she had danced with this one cute guy who had had his hands all over her. She didn't mind that much, except the cute guy's drunk girlfriend had showed up in the middle of it. The first sign of trouble had been when Lexi felt her shoulder being pulled around, and the girl's fist landing on her right eye. After throwing some punches of her own, some mutual hair pulling, and a group of people pulling them apart, Lexi had finally backed down, the girl's drunken curses ringing in her ears. No one was really hurt, except she had a little surprise when she looked in the mirror that morning. A dark circular bruise around her eye was not the most horrific thing, but it wasn't the most attractive.
Still feeling a little angry over the night before, Lexi hoped that no one recognized her, with her dark sunglasses over her brown eyes. At least they couldn't see her black eye, could they? Taking another sip from her coffee, she contemplated these things, before she felt a shadow appear above her. Looking up, almost into the sun, tried to shield her eyes, looking to see who it might be.

Slamming the car door behind him and locking it, Nicklas made his way to Starbucks in a white Abercrombie and Fitch shirt --that although, didn't hug his body tightly, still complimented his lean abs-- and baggy, washed out jeans. He had drove all the way from New York, New York to Huntley, New Jersey just to surprise Rebecca with his whole move and all, but at the moment, Nick was in need of some serious coffee. For the past few nights, he hasn't had much time to sleep. Being the typical Nick, he didn't spend that time moping at the hotel, but instead went out to clubs and bars; anything to get his mind off things. His eyes held bags and rings underneath and was especially more noticeable in the sunlight.
With a sigh, Nick decided to put his problems a side for the time being, as all he's really looking for now is a nice warm mug with Starbuck's infamous coffee filled inside. America is a big country, and the same goes for Huntley. Surely, he couldn't possibly meet someone he knew. It seemed like a one in a million chance at the moment, until his eyes caught a glimpse of the familiar dark brown hair he used to be accustomed to seeing at one point. Lexi; his party buddy, his drinking buddy, and now... maybe his Starbucks buddy too? Nicklas blinked once, standing there somwhat dumbfounded for a moment.
Another brown haired girl too opened the door of Starbucks and walked out to Alexia's table, holding what looked to be a Caramel Frappuccino in one hand before sitting herself down. Her face turned to the side and he caught a glimpse of her profile and those familiar, azure blue eyes. Is that... Rebecca? He couldn't take this anymore. What was with all the sudden surprises and how small really is this town? He and Alexis had only just met a while back at a nightclub where they had partied together. He had never really asked for her age, but it never came across to him that she could've been a student at Rutherford, as Becca was as well.
Now making his way to the table, Nick towered over Lexi, who was sitting down, and Rebecca, who he now stood just beside. Perfect. He thought to himself, sarcastically. Of course, this meant he'd have Rebecca down his throat sooner than he'd expected. The step-siblings exchanged confused glances before their attention was then directed towards Lexi. "Hey," he said, making the usual nod as a greeting to Lexi before pulling up a chair and sitting down on it. He looked back up at Rebecca, who towered over him as she was the one standing now with a dumbfounded expression.
I don't know why, I felt the need to but Becca's in here too.

Rebecca had been cueing in the long line, awaiting to get coffee from Starbucks, one of the most popular cafes in New Jersey. Of course, being one of the most popular cafes meant having to pay its price. But of course, the long lines and somewhat expensive rates was worth the mouth watering coffee that they served here. In Becca's case, mouth watering caramel frappucino. It wasn't normal for someone to be drinking such a cold, ice blended drink in the morning of all times but being her, she couldn't help herself from ordering the typical.
Walking out of Starbucks to find a nice seat outside in this warm, sunny Spring morning under the sun, she suddenly caught sight of Lexi, one of her good friends that she had known to be from Rutherford. Perkily making her way to the table whilst sipping on her drink, she smiled widely at Lexi, who had her eyes covered in large sunglasses. Of course, in this sunny day it was definitely not unusual to have your eyes covered in show offy shades, but Becca couldn't help but to feel as if Lexi is hiding something.
"Hey!" she said, showing off her white, straight teeth as she smiled. She had parted her lips to speak again, but was interrupted by a certain somebody making his way to the table. Why, it was none other than her older step-brother, Nick. Pause! Dumbfounded, confused, and surprised, Rebecca looked over at Nick who had greeted Alexia nonchalantly and rudely pulled up a chair before sitting down on it. Her eyes shifted from Nick and Lexi and then back to Nick before blurting out the words she could no longer hold in. "Do you guys know each other?"

((that's cool!))
The familiar voice, and the bright smile, made Lexi realize that her wish not to be recognized was already not going to come true. It had been a little while, but she recognized the voice, and that brilliant smile. Managing to dig up a smile of her own, she was able to get out a single word, "Becca!", before someone sat down at the table. Turning in confusion, she looks at the guy, and almost does a double-take. Two people she knew, at the same time? Cursing her bad luck, she puts on a smile for him, as she says, "Hey, Nick!" How much worse could this get? A guy she had just met a few weeks ago, that was really, really, hot, and that she might feel attracted to him, and her Starbucks buddy Becca. This was going to be so embarrassing for her.
Deciding that they needed to be introduced, she gestures at Nick with her hand, and starts to turn back to the tall girl standing behind her. "Nick, this is..." That was all she was able to get out, before she hears the words coming out of Becca. Turning to look at her, realizing that they knew each other, how stranger could this become? With the smile changing to a look of confusion, her eyes shifting back and forth from behind her shades, Lexi wondered how Becca would react. Not that Becca got very angry around her, but after last night, Lexi felt a little on edge about friendships. "Uhhh, yeah, we met a couple of weeks ago. Why do you ask?"
Not thinking that this was the best way to start off, she shakes her head slowly, putting a palm on the front of her forehead. "Where are my manners? Becca, how have you been, chica? And please, sit down. I'm guessing that you two know each other too." She hoped that someone would explain it to her, she didn't want to have to guess. And it was going to delay the inevitable questions that she didn't really want to answer right now.

Rebecca couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow to Lexi's reply, wondering how it was that they could know each other as well as they apparently did now. Cocking her head to the side, her lips parted as the word, "Oh," left her mouth, almost inaudibly. Pulling the chair, she sat herself down before the two, Lexi and Nick, both two very different people in many diferent aspects. Come to think of it, Rebecca wondered whether the quote 'Opposites attract' could really be true in this case between her friend and her step-brother?
"Know each other? Hun, we pretty much live with each other. Well, we used to at least." she paused for a moment, forcing a smile over at Nick who sat beside her, his face expressionless as usual before continuing. "Sweet ol' Nicky here just so happens to be my one and only... step-brother." Rebecca brought her hand over to his arm before punching it, playfully yet at the same time quite roughly. A smirk appeared on her lips as she spoke, wondering what Lexi's reaction to this would be.

Nick sent dagger glares over to Rebecca's direction, as if daring her to punch him like that again. What with her stick thin frame, Becca seemed like the complete opposite of what most people would call strong. But the thing is, for someone like her, Becca is strong. Of course, definitely not as much as Nick could be but she still never ceased to amaze him as how such a skinny girl could have so much energy. Don't females starve themselves to be that skinny or something?
Smirking to himself, Nick mentally thanked God for being born with a penis and no boobs. He really could not imagine going through all the cons of a female's life; he didn't even want to, for another reason. "And apparently, cute 'lil Becky here happens to be my younger step-sister," he said mimicking the same, exact annoying tone she had used just before reaching out his hand to pinch her cheeks. As a reflex though, Becca's hands quickly flew over to slap his, resulting in him pulling his arm back. Bitch. -_-;
Turning back to face Lexi now, he narrowed his eyes at her before a small smirk appeared on his lips. "What's with the shades? It's not that bright out."

Why was Becca so surprised that Lexi knew Nick? It wasn't like she needed Becca's permission to meet guys, why was this one different? Watching Becca's expressions change like clouds passing over the sun was starting to make her wonder what she had stumbled into here at Starbucks. And then it all started to make sense, Becca had mentioned something about a step-brother in the past, Lexi just hadn't made the connection. A slight gasp, and cringing in sympathy as Becca punched his arm, she knew what it was like to punch someone in the arm like that. She and her two brothers had done it growing up, and it could hurt so much, even from someone smaller and thinner. "Oh, so this is Nicky? Wow, I had no idea. We met at a party, and we didn't really talk about our families that much. Did we, Nicky?" A low chuckle, and a playful smirk, as she had just found another way to tease Nick, and she was going to use it as much as possible.
Watching Nick pinch Becca's cheeks, and her reaction, reminder her of her brothers again, and she laughed. She also wondered if they did that all the time, or only on occasions where they found out that they knew the same people. As she sipped on her coffee, she thought about what Nick had said to her over the couple of times they had seen each other over the last couple of weeks, and she realized that she didn't know all that much about him. "Do y'all do this all the time? It's so much like me with my brothers, John and David, we clown around a lot." Maybe their relationship wasn't exactly like hers with her brothers, she was trying to remember what Becca had said to her about him.
And then Nick was asking her about her shades, and Lexi closed her eyes, sighing with a sharp exhale. As her right hand goes to her temple, trying to hide her cheeks that were reddening by the second, she glances at Nick, then to Becca, knowing that she was going to have to talk about it sometime. "Oh, you guys, I'm so embarrassed. I got into a fight with this drunk ass bitch at a party last night. Evidently I was dancing with her boyfriend, and she didn't like it." Shaking her head, her dark hair moving across her shoulders, Lexi tries not to get too angry about it all. But she knew that if she saw that girl right now, she would probably go after her, just for giving her a black eye. And she was still hesitating about letting other people see how dark the bruise around her eye had been that morning.

Nick scowled over at Rebecca before turning his full, undivided attention towards Alexia and smirked, that typical infamous smirk that most would find on him. It wasn't normal to catch a sincere smile on his lips, or any other smile for that reason. But a smirk, on the other hand, remained a completely simple gesture coming from him. Nick was never one to be affectionate towards others, what with his aloofness, it was hard enough to find any other expression on his face which actually held any signs of sentimental value.
The sides of his lips curved upwards though, just slightly into a small, barely noticeable smile. "Of course, we didn't," he answered Lexi, his expression soon turning into a playful dagger glare as he shrugged, his shoulders rising for a quick moment before it was lowered yet again into his usual slouch. Nicky; it wasn't much of a name to go by. He felt, in a way, feminine by being called that. Even, with his 'pretty boy' looks, the name just did not suit him well. Rebecca knew many ways to annoy him, and this just so happens to be one of them.
"You probably would've ditched me if I started rambling and on and on about my family. I mean, you obviously know Ainsley," he said, referring to Becca with her middle name, "There's Aimee, the favorite in the family, my dad, and Bex's mom. That's pretty much it."

Becca's eyes glazed over her brother in both shock in awe. Usually, she did the talking and he did the rest. Nick was never one to talk; maybe to his closest friends, yes, but when it cames to situations like this, Becca was always one to take the lead role. Nick was reserved. He kept to himself for most of the time unless he was at a party or at some kind of bar or club, flirting with girls just for the fun of it. This got her thinking, though. Does Nick have a thing for Lexi?
Sitting back in her chair now, Becca took the top of her plastic cup off and used the straw to stir the whipped cream together with the ice-blended frappuccino. She was usually one to eat the whipped cream before sipping on her frap, but considering she wasn't by herself, Becca thought against it. She simply nodded her head as they spoke before directing her attention from the drink to the two and speaking up.
"If you mean fight constantly, then yeah, we do it all the time," she said, nodding. With her eyes wide and opened, she looked nothing less than an overly excited kid. Whilst still sipping onto her drink, Becca's eyes lingered to Lexi's eyes, which were still hidden behind the shades. She gasped out loud as Alexia continued talking, wondering what oh-so wonderful treasures could now be seen visibly around her eyes. "Ouch," she and Nick had said, in unison.
"That's gotta hurt, but knowing you, Lex, I'd bet the bitch woke up even worse," Becca smiled, trying to comfort her friend. Nick, on the other hand, probably suddenly finding the matter of blood shed and fights interesting ('He seriously is one morbid guy,' she thought) piped up. "I bet the guy was an ass trying to get some," the words stumbled out, swiftly. Anybody could tell her wasn't used to the whole 'comforting a friend' act.
"So," he continued, hesitating for a moment as he mentally contemplated on whether or not to ask her this, "Let's see the black eye."
Sorry, it sucks so bad! Gah. ><

The look in Nick's eyes told Lexi that she had found a way to get at Nick, thanks to his step-sister. She would have to be careful, though, not to use it too much, or she would probably end up provoking him into doing something that they both might regret. Shaking her head, her expression very serious, she looks at Nick in disagreement. "I wouldn't have ditched you, Nick, I like talking about family. It just never came up. I have two older brothers, one in LA, and one still in school in Virginia. And my parents are in Virginia too. There, you see? Now we know."
Glancing over at Becca, there was something else going on, Lexi couldn't put her finger on it. Did the two step-siblings really dislike each other that much? Or was it something else? She wanted to ask, but she thought she might do that when it was just Becca and herself. It might help her to understand the relationship between the two a little better. And she smiled slightly, a flash of her white teeth, as Becca talked about the two fighting. She could see that now, in Nick's reaction, and Becca's physical treatment of Nick.
Lexi stares at her cup for a moment, the expression of sympathy coming from the two of them was appreciated. She was still feeling a little embarrassed, as she looked up at Becca, shrugging her shoulders, trying to appear like she didn't care. "Maybe, I dunno, we were pulled apart before anything really happened. But yeah, she was probably hurting this morning." There was a feeling of slight comfort in that, and relief that it hadn't escalated into something worse. She really needed to watch her temper, especially when she was drunk, it was going to get her into real trouble one day.
Turning a little more swiftly then she expected, to glare at Nick from behind her shades, Lexi sighs, there was probably some truth to it. "Thank you, Nick, that's why he was dancing with me, to get me to go home with him. Or to make his girlfriend jealous, which is what actually happened." She wasn't really angry at him, just over the fact that she was punched first without any warning. And then Nick wants to see her black eye. Lifting her shades to the top of her head, her dark hair framing her face, she gestures at her eyes with her outstretched fingers. "There, you see? It didn't hurt that much last night, I would have put some ice on it. And now, everyone is going to ask how I got it. If I ever see that girl again, I'm going to..." Her right hand curling into a fist, and her white teeth clenching, showed how angry she really felt about the whole situation. Taking a deep breath, she tries to calm down, staring into her mug of coffee with her brown eyes, before taking another sip from it.
