Long, fading auburn hair fell in tressles down the back of nineteen-year old Anna Sophia Bennett's back. It wasn't put up in any particular fashion, simply down and straight like natural. She was dressed in a black tank top that fell just barely past her waist and a pair of black capris. Her favorite sandals adorned her petite feet, flat and catching her biggest toe in a cute, half-moon strap.
She stepped into the off-brand coffee shop as quietly as possible. It wasn't crowded and the sound of classical music played sweetly throughout the store, making her almost instantly feel more at ease. The past four hours had been completely stressful, leaving her feeling mentally weak and tired. Theatre had been frighteningly disasterous: two actors had received the wrong fittings, so the stress level instantly shot up. Rutherford's theatre class was putting on a production in only four days time, making everyone particularly antsy when mistakes were made. When her friend, Teddy, called and asked if she wanted to grab coffee, she accepted gratefully.
Anna and Teddy had developed a friendship over the past month or so that was quite comfortable. She enjoyed listening to him play guitar and he seemed to enjoy her company, despite her seemingly incessant desire to chat. Although she wouldn't really admit it, she had started to find herself feeling the occasional chest flutter when she spent time with him. She never said anything for fear of possibly ruining the friendship, but her cheeks would get the slighest shade of pink every so often when he was around.
Ordering a carmel frappucino and sinking into one of the large couches near the window, Anna leans her head back on the sofa and lets out a sigh. Keeping her slender fingers wrapped around her cup, Anna closed her eyes and waited for her friend to arrive.

Teddy's hair was short now. Yeah, he'd gotten it cut. Just got a little bit of a change. So now it was really short. He'd even added a few blonde highlights in there as well. He'd just gotten it done yesterday, so the first person that was going to see it was Anna. After spiking his new hairstyle up, and dressing, he was headed out the door. He was wearing a pair of black and white shoes, blue jeans and a black t-shirt with the word "Steelers" outlined in yellow. He jingled his keys on the way out, a nervous habit he'd gotten once he'd gotten his license. Why was he nervous today? Well, ever since the second time he talked to Anna, he'd developed a small crush on the girl. He couldn't help it; she was just too adorable for him to not like her. Of course, he tucked it away in his brain and tried to not think about Anna like that. He knew if he did say something about it, it'd wreck their friendship. Anna was shaping up to be a rather good friend, and he didn't want to wreck that. Teddy was thankful for that day that he'd caught her listening to him through the door. If he hadn't, then they never would've met. He wasn't really all that nervous, but he had a small amount, but still there, butterflies. He shook his head violently, trying to rid himself of the butterflies. Teddy climbed into his car and drove towards New York City. It wasn't too long until he'd reached the coffee shop that he'd requested them to meet. He opened the door and walked up to the counter to get himself some coffee right away. He glanced around for Anna as he waited in the short line-up, noticing her sitting on one of the couches. He got himself a mocha, since he wasn't all that tired and didn't need a full coffee. And whenever he didn't need something, he tended not to take extra. Once he'd bought and paid for the coffee, he left the line and walked to the couch Anna was sitting at. He situated himself beside her, but hopefully not too close. A friendly close, but not a creepy close. Yes, he worried about these things and he couldn't help it. "Hey Anna. Thanks for meeting me." he said, and gave her a small smile before sipping his mocha. He hadn't asked her to meet him for a real reason, accept the reason of his hair. He wanted to show it off, and since he hadn't seen Anna in a while he decided to show it to her first.

The sound of a masculine voice made Anna open her eyes and cock her chin enough to see Teddy out of the corner of her eye but not lift her head from the sofa. She was exhausted, quite sleepy and hoping her drink would give her the extra kick she needed to get through the rest of the day.
However, when she looked over and saw a new hairstyle on her friend, her eyes opened wider and she lifted her head. Narrowing her eyes and arching her eyebrows, she took in his new appearance and nodded slowly, a tiny smile breaching her lips. "Well don't you look just brand-spanking new!" she said with a grin. Her accent crept into her words but was covered by the sweet and approving smile she cast his way.
"When did you get that done?" she asked, moving straight from the small talk and getting on to the more important subject. Her pale blue eyes watched him with a tired, but pleasant, gleam. He must have gotten it done pretty recently - she had seen him only a few days earlier and nothing had changed. Anna resisted the urge to nibble on her lower lip; he looked incredibly handsome. OOC: That kind of sucked. Apologies. The next one will be better, I promise!

Teddy glanced out the nearest window, looking at the sun in the distance. Since he was far enough away from the window, he could look at the sun and not get those odd sunspots. At least, not very many of them anyways. He gave a glance Anna's way, before watching the sun again. A moment later he changed his glance to the people milling and sitting around within the coffee shop.
Once she'd started talking, he turned his attention towards her and flashed a bright smile. "Yeah, I know, hey?" he said, and ran a few fingers through it. He took another sip, returning the one hand to his lap. "I like it," he added randomly, and shrugged. He was glad he did it. Everyone needed change every once in a while; no matter how small or easy to get back to normal. Cutting your hair was one of the easiest ones to change back to what it was before, you just had to wait a while.
He smiled again at Anna, before looking down at his coffee. He never really knew where to look. It wasn't just around Anna, it was around anyone really. He was afraid that if he looked in the right spot, they would end up thinking the wrong thing. And if he looked at them too long, they might get a little weirded out. He didn't want either one. "Yesterday." he replied. "I just decided a little change." he added, and shrugged again.

Teddy had an odd way of looking around at all sorts of things whenever he was talking with Anna. She had noticed it but never said anything. There was never really an opportunity to bring it up; besides, it wasn't exactly pertinent information. 'Hey, I notice you move your eyes a lot' isn't the best conversation starter. So, rather than say anything, she merely accepted it as part of who Teddy was and probably would be for awhile, if not forever.
"I like it, too," she said with a smile. Anna had dyed her hair only two months earlier, but it was already beginning to fade out and turn into a dusky-blonde as it made the transition back to her natural, golden blonde. "It compliments your skin tone," she said cheerfully, taking a drink of her frappucino and adjusting her weight comfortably.
Tilting her head to look at him sideways, Anna couldn't help but feel the tiniest of blushes creeping into her cheeks. He was looking at his coffee, but she had no idea if he could see her out of the corner of his eye. Letting her eyes flicker to the window and street outside, she opened her mouth and began to speak. "Next time I think you should get wild and go a completely different colour." She grinned at him, her eyes sparkling with a newfound energy. "You know, take people by surprise."
She had kind of done the same thing when she dyed her own hair auburn. Nobody had really expected the Southern belle to make a shift like that; she just acted on it. Being impulsive had been nice, and the compliments definitely paid it off. In fact, Anna was a little sad to see it fading. She couldn't afford to get it done again anytime soon, though. It was too expensive for the little country girl.
"So. What's up?"

Teddy pulled his eyes from his coffee, as he relaxed entirely on the couch. He let his head fall back onto it, and he looked out the window to the street this time; not the sun. He always liked sitting in places like this, and watching the world go by at it's normal, fast pace. Besides, people-watching was one of his favorite things to do. A little odd, maybe. But he liked to watch people and guess their personalities, why they'd be at that certain place...pretty much everything. He'd never told a soul that though. If the person didn't do the same thing, it might be a little odd to them. They just wouldn't get it.
"Thanks," he said appreciatively, and flashed another smile her direction. Eventually, his gaze went back to the street, taking another sip of his coffee. He felt entirely comfortable, but nervous at the same time. He didn't know how to get rid of the nervousness either. It wasn't all that demanding either, it was just a little bit deep in his gut. So he could live with it for now.
"Kind of like when you dyed your hair?" he asked, smirking gently in her direction again. He let his gaze linger a little longer, before closing his eyes gently. It was just so calm in this little coffee shop; especially with Anna next to him. She always seemed to calm him down, and she didn't know it. "Maybe I will." he added, pulling his eyes open quickly.
He found himself looking outside once more, a pleasant smile spreading across his lips. "Oh, not much. Just sitting here with one of my good friends, sippin a cuppa joe." he teased, and chuckled lightly. "How about you?"
