Squirming around in attempt to adjust the sleeves of her blue button-up, Anna let out an exasperated sigh. The sun was pounding with strong force on the New York cement sidewalk, making her uncomfortably warm despite the occasional breeze that shyed across the back of her neck. Auburn hair streaked with genuine gold roots was pulled to the back of her head in a ponytail, just loose enough to prevent a headache. Few bangs fell in her face; those that did had freed themselves from the restraint of her bobbypins.
There was no particular reason for this delicate balance in professional appearance and attire. Anna had planned on meeting a friend for coffee at Starbucks but she was already running a good ten minutes behind - the shop was still at least five minutes away if she made haste. The way pedestrian traffic was moving, however, made it unlikely she would get there in even ten more minutes.
Before looking both ways, Anna reached into her purse and pulled out the cell phone her oldest brother sent her for her nineteenth birthday. She could have never afforded it on her own; luckily, Walter was an accountant and made enough to help out his little sister whenever she suffered from financial struggles.
A distant bing sounded just above Anna's head; glancing briefly up, she saw the sign signaling her and the rest of the crowd to start walking. Being pushed and shoved from a boisterous group of middle school students, Anna muttered and did her best not to fall down. Sadly, her phone had less luck. After getting a nice shove from one of the older kids, her phone went flying out of her hand in skidding into the road a good five or six feet away from the sidewalk. "Thanks a lot!" she said under her breath, frowning and watching the phone to make sure it didn't get kicked underneath the tires of a car.
As soon as the group moved enough to let Anna slide through the crowd, she took several steps out into the road and bent down to snatch up her phone. Time seemed to hang in the air for a brief moment; she heard the sound of a horn and people yelling. Turning her head, she saw a set of black tires and silver rims. A scream came from out of nowhere - she didn't even recognize it as her own voice. The driver of the car saw her just before it could hit her with any force. When she attempted to jump to the side, Anna felt the front bumper hit her waist. Letting out a short gasp of surprise - nothing seemed real - she closed her eyes and bit down on her lip. Her body kept moving and a sudden rotation made her scream out again.
Suddenly everything seemed to just stop. Anna couldn't hear anything over the sound of her own heart beating a million miles an hour in her chest. Taking short, sharp breaths, Anna didn't even realize her knees were scraped up and bleeding, and her lip was bleeding from where she had bit down in a mingled emotion of shock and fear. What she did notice almost instantly, though, was that she couldn't move her ankle. Whenever she attempted to shift her weight enough to get up, she felt like her entire leg was snapping in two.
Sitting at an awkward angle in the New York street, Anna had a look of fear and horror, each tinted with the pain streaking through her right ankle.

Walking slowly to the Starbucks cafe Jay was planning on meeting Anna there, she wanted to tell her a few things. Something that she didn’t and probably wouldn’t bring herself to admit. No she wouldn’t tell her not just now, why ruin a good day with her friend, Anna probably wanted to talked about her tattoo or maybe Teddy. Jaylin could see the two of them getting closer and it seem like she was being pushed out of the beautiful trio that they had once form such a long time ago.
Digging her feet into the ground she knew that she was late, her room mate was nagging her about cleaning up the mess that she made so she was spend most of her time trying to clean up. Jay couldn’t and wouldn’t stand to hear her room mate mouth anymore, how squeaky it sounded. Almost like a piece of chalk across a chalk board, it was such much that you could stand of hearing. So when Anna suggest that they met at Starbucks Jay easily agreed to go, it was better than staying in the house all day.
Passing people by she could tell that they were staring at her. She was weird after all. Everything about her was strange, the way she present herself. Today she was wearing a pink skirt with a white shirt that read ride me hard, her hair in its usual style pulled back into two pigtails. Her black pink converses is what really set her out fit out. Now you might be thinking well that is that bad, but it was being that her skirt was two inches too short and her shirt has small rips and holes in them and she was wearing a pair of overused fishnet stockings. Yeah but Jay she didn’t mind the stares, if getting stares for being different was what she was going to get then she rather be different.
A few minutes had passed and Jay was lost in her thoughts until she finally realized that she was near. Finally reaching the corner of the street that the Starbucks was on she reached for her cell phone and was going to called Anna to see if she was there until she saw a crowd and she decided to be like everyone else and be nosy. Walking up the shock hit her before anything as she just stood there with her mouth open. It wasn’t something that you planned on seeing. Your friend sprawl on the floor looking as if she was in pain. What was she suppose to do, not just stand there like a log on a stick.
Pushing past the people she made her way towards Anna kneeling near her and looking her up and down. At least she was still alive, Jay could tell by the way that she was breathing. Clearing her throat she tried to think of something to say but the only thing that she could even think was to see if she was okay “Anna, Anna” Jay said in a shaken voice “are you okay.” Jay asked her in a concern toned forgetting that anybody else was around.

Anna let out a painful squeak when a shadow passed over her. Looking up and seeing Jaylin was perhaps the biggest relief in the world. "My ankle," she said, inhaling sharply and trying not to cry. "I can't move it." Her breath was coming and going rapidly, her chest rising and falling at a much quicker pace than usual. Although she was only in pain when she moved the broken bone around, the panic was beginning to set in and make the young performer frightened. Her blue eyes dropped to look at her ankle - it looked awful. Swallowing back the fear gathering in her throat, she closed her eyes and took a deep, though sharp breath.
A single tear streamed down Anna's face, leaving a wet trail across her soft and blushed cheek. "I need to call Josh," she said, biting back more tears. Even so, her voice cracked and she looked fearfully at Jaylin. "It hurts," she whined, pressing her lips together and blinking back the additional tears beginning to fall down her cheeks.
"I need to get out of the street." Looking around, Anna saw she was already blocking traffic. It was odd that the police weren't around yet; she wasn't going to wait around for them, though. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry." Glancing up, tears still burning in her eyes, Anna saw a tiny woman in black dress pants and a green blouse. She must have been the one driving when Anna stepped into the road. "Let me help you." The older woman looked over at Jaylin. "If you get one shoulder, I'll get the other and we can get her to the sidewalk." The car was moved halfway onto the sidewalk, blocking some foot traffic but allowing cars to still get by on the street. Flinching at the thought of getting up, Anna looked at Jaylin and nodded in agreement with the older woman. It would hurt, but sitting in the street wasn't going to help anything.

&&Clothes[ [ Haha. He looks kinda gay. But there's his shirt, and then just plain old blue jeans ] ] Joshua had finally quit his partying. For a while, at least. After three nights of hardcore partying, he decided just to focus on the more important things. Like his job, his friends, his sister... pretty much his life. Alcohol wasn't important to him barely at all. Just for when he needed some fun. But after three nights almost in a row of the same thing, he wanted to get back on track again. No, scratch that. He needed to get back on track again. He was headed towards the library, in fact. For what? No reason really. Just to get some good old-fashioned reading in. But before the library, he wanted to grab some coffee to wake himself up a little more. A shower just didn't do it anymore. As he walked down the street, he fiddled with the inside of his pants pockets. Joshua's head kept turning every now and again, to view the store fronts. Most of it was stuff he wasn't really into. But every now and again he'd notice something and take a little extra time to look at it as he walked. He noticed a commotion not so far ahead. A semi-large group of people were hovering around the intersection. It seemed that there was a certain person they were all watching and hovering around. Joshua caught a glimpse of her through the legs of everyone, but he didn't recognize her. Not from a distance, with such a short glimpse, anyways. He kept slowly getting closer, staring hard at the spot where the girl lay. He was curious to see who it was, but he could only catch short glimpses every now and again. Joshua stepped out into the intersection, seeing a glimpse of Jaylin, and recognized her. Yeah, he knew her. Quite well actually. But he was more worried about the girl that was hurt. Once he got just one more look, his eyes went wide. He forced his way into the group, kneeling beside Anna. "Oh my gosh! What happened?!" he asked, fear engulfing the tone of his voice before he even got one word out.

Looking down at Anna she looked as if she was in so much pain and when Anna said something about her ankle Jay looked down to see that it was at some kind of weird angle. From the looks of it, it looked broken and Jay didn't know if her friend was going to be able to get up. Looking around she could see the people standing there still staring, none had budged to help her friend out. People were like that in New York, they would watch as a fire burn a house down or stand there and stared at a person that was just hit by a car. Jaylin just didn't get people in New York and probably would never really understand them.
Shaking her head she brushed back a few strands of loose hair that had fallen out of its place, she kneeled down beside her trying to hear her as she tried to hear what she was saying. Shaking her head not being about to speak because of all the shock that she was in she looked around hoping that someone could help her. Jay was an awfully small girl and couldn’t possible hold up Anna by herself. That is when she heard the voice of an lady coming, she seem sorry and Jaylin assumed that she was the person that hit Anna. When the lady offered to help carry Anna to the side Jay quickly accepted her offer and went to one side of the Anna wrapping her arm around her shoulder.
Soon they were off to the side and the crowd started to die down some because most of them were late for work and had only been their because the traffic was being blocked. Looking down past the crowd she looked for a sign of an ambulance coming. They should have been there already but they weren’t and she wondered if Anna could handle any much pain. Jaylin didn’t know what to do at this time. That is when the thought of Josh came in her mind, maybe he should but before she could even pull out her phone he was there.
He must have been going somewhere and saw the crowd and did like any other person and came to check what it was. Giving him a small smile she watched as he walked over by Anna side and asked her what happening. She could hear the fear and his voice and she knew that he was probably just as frighten as she was but maybe more because it was his sister. Walking behind him she placed her hand on his shoulder and decided to answer the question for Anna. She was probably trying to concentrate on not thinking about the pain. “Josh she got hit by a car. She keep talking about her ankle. I think she broke it, but I am not a doctor so I wouldn’t know” Jay say telling him as much as she knew about what happened.

Anna whimpered pitifully when Jaylin and the stranger got her by the shoulders and helped her to her feet -- or, her foot, rather. A severe pain raced through her ankle when she attempted to put pressure on her toes. Inhaling sharply, Anna lifted her chin, closed her eyes, and desperately attempted not to cry in front of this huge crowd. She was embarrassed -- even years of theatre rehearsals and plays couldn't cover up how small she felt right that moment.
The familiar sound of a male voice made Anna open her eyes and turn her head just enough to see who was speaking. When she realized it was Josh, a wave of relief washed over her body. Luck couldn't get much better than that. When he asked what was wrong, though, Anna couldn't manage to form words through the tears and pain shooting through her ankle. Nothing but a minute squeak, probably not even heard by Jaylin, escaped the young girl's lips.
Luckily, Jaylin spoke for her. Two tears streamed down Anna's face as she looked at her older brother fearfully. She had never broken a single bone in her body; starting now was potentially the worst scenario ever. Summer break was in two days and now Anna would be stuck in a cast. Great, just great, she thought to herself with a sting of bitter sadness.
"It hurts." Her voice was raspy from trying not to burst into a full-blown cry. Looking from Josh to Jaylin and back again, Anna looked down at her ankle and wished she had never stepped out to get her phone. Buying a new phone would have been a much better solution than diving in the middle of the road. "My... my phone got knocked out of my hand," she explained, looking down at the sidewalk. "I went to get it and didn't realize traffic was coming." She lowered her chin, looking even further down at the ground in embarrassment. "I'm an idiot," she murmured.

Joshua stroked his chin lightly, as he listened to both of the girls talk. He was worried about it, I mean it was his sister. But realizing it was just the ankle comforted him a little. She probably wouldn't die from an ankle injury. It could've ended up far worse than the situation seemed to be. He turned his head towards Jaylin for a moment to speak to her, since she had spoken before Anna. "Hmm. She could well have. It sounds like the car ran over her foot. If I'm not mistaken, of course."
He turned his head down to his sister, holding one finger up to her lips. "Shh. Just relax, baby sis." he said, before giving her a reassuring smile. "Here, let me look at it." he added, before scootching down to Anna's feet. He didn't specialize in the area, but he did know enough about broken bones. Besides, if a car had run over her foot, it was most likely broken.
{Bleh. Muse just ran out for Joshua. I will finish this later}
