[/b] It'd been a wonderful day. Gorgeous, even. And that was a lot, coming from Teddy. He usually didn't pay attention at how good the weather was, since he had plenty of other things to think about. But he'd looked out the window of his dorm, and could barely resist the urge to go out. After getting himself dressed that morning, in a very light; summer-y outfit, he'd just so happened to hear the weather report. Okay, so he'd purposely watched it. But what could he say? What if it was supposed to get really cold, or something? Well, a 'chance' of rain. Teddy wasn't about to take a chance, and get stuck, shivering in the rain. So he changed into a pair of jeans, t-shirt, and a jacket. He didn't really care if he looked a little odd, walking down the street in such a heavy outfit. He wasn't even going to wear his jacket; just carry it around in case it did rain. He considered going to New York City, but instead just decided to wander around Huntley. He hadn't really bothered to just walk around, and see what there was to see. He'd done that in Rutherford, but not in Huntley yet. So after dressing, changing, and putting his shoes on he was out the door. His hair, again, had caused a little trouble for him. He wasn't used to the haircut yet, and couldn't seem to make it look as good as the hairdresser had not so long ago. Then again, he should've known better, since it seems nobody can get it as good as the hairdresser. But, nonetheless, he was out and about in Huntley. Where to? Nowhere in particular. Just out, a'wandering on one of his free days. Suddenly, Teddy felt a single drop of rain hit him, and he groaned unappreciatively. But, he was ready for it as he pulled on the jacket. He wasn't about to let the rain shut him inside. Besides, he was at the park now. And why would he just up and leave because of a little water? He seemed to have everything he needed for the moment, right where he was. It started raining a little harder, so he buried his hands in his pocket as he walked through the park. 'Oh, why must it rain? It seems on the best of days, it has to rain.' he thought to himself. As if Mother Nature had heard his thoughts, the rain just fell harder. Well, not to the point where it hurt when the drops hit him. But just more. To the point where he could barely see where he was headed. If Teddy had anything to say for himself at that moment, he'd say it was a lot of rain. His vision was blurred now, unless he held an arm up and shielded his eyes from the rain. That's something he wasn't about to do; at least for the moment. So he found refuge underneath a tree, and decided to wait it out. Maybe not the entire time it rained, but at least for a little while. Besides, Teddy always got his best thinking done in the rain.

Not even three in the afternoon and the rain had started to fall. Didn't the weather say a slight chance? Since when did slight chances turn into a harsh downpour? Anna had been spending her afternoon in the park, practicing for another theatre assignment. Finals were approaching rapidly - this was the final assignment before the huge performance at the end of the year. That would be for their final grade. Anna's nerves were already sprung but she did her best to push it to the back of her mind for now.
Once the rain began to fall, it almost quickly drenched the little actress. She wasn't particularly dressed for the occasion. She wore dark brown pants, a golden top covered with a dark half-top and long, off-white shawl that went down to her knees. Unfortunately, she wore sandals rather than tennis shoes, assuming the weather would stay nice until she got back to her dorm room.
Anna wasn't carrying a script; she was simply running lines from memory. It was definitely a perk when she began covering her blonde head and making a mad dash for the nearest tree. She didn't necessarily dislike the rain, but she wasn't going to just stand around and get completely soaked. Even so, she couldn't help but let out a short laugh when she nearly slipped on an already-drenched patch of grass.
When she approached the tree and let out a sigh of satisfaction, her eyes flickered to the left and she let out a short, small yell of surprise. She hadn't expected to see anyone else at the park, much less someone standing under the same tree she had so willingly dodged beneath to avoid the rain. "Teddy!" she cried out, another short laugh escaping her lips. Oh, why did he have to see her in the middle of the park when she probably looked like a soaked rat? Her blonde hair was sticking to the back of her neck, thanks to the rain, and her eyeliner was slightly smudged at the edges of her eyes. She wasn't exactly a model for beauty at that particular moment.

Teddy kept his hands buried deep in his pockets, for the most part. He'd pulled one hand up and ran it through his hair, feeling that it'd become a slightly-spiked mop. So he ran his hand through again, to make it all flat on his head. A lot better than a few clumps of hair sticking up every now and again on his head. He wasn't sure why he did that, really. I mean, he doubted that anyone would be around. When it started raining, they all probably took off for the nearest coffee house; or even their own houses.
He leaned against the tree, watching the rain come down hard; with no remorse or regret. Rain wasn't friendly at all, like the lake was when he'd been out there. Rain was harsh and unforgiving. Now that he thought about it though, it was the rain he liked best when he was back in Regina. Especially when it was coming down as hard as it was right now. He shook his head a little violently, to get those thoughts out of his head. He always tried his best to keep those out of his head.
He ended up thinking about the lake, when he'd been out there recently. He'd gone out to just relax and enjoy the water. Of course, Evelyn had come out of nowhere, crying. That night turned up to be anything but relaxation. She'd suffered from a panic attack, and Teddy ended up at one of the last places he ever wanted to be: the hospital. But he found himself there again, not so long after Evelyn's panic attack. Then again, it was to the point where he'd do anything for a job.
Suddenly, a voice cut into his thoughts harshly, and he turned his head sharply to see who it was. When he found out it was Anna though, his expression softened. Not only because he was crushing on her though; because she was a friend. And Teddy didn't want to come off angry or mean; especially to a friend. "Anna! You scared me," he commented, even if it may not have seemed like she scared him.
He knew how to hide his fear. Pretty good, if Teddy could say so. Back in Regina, when the jocks of the school would pounce on him, they'd just eat up that fear. So he taught himself to not let them know he was afraid, even if he was. "What are you doing out here... on such a wet afternoon?" he added, again wanting to bury those thoughts deep in his brain.

"Sorry," Anna said, her words ending in the tiniest of laughs. She didn't think she had really frightened him; he didn't jump or anything - he merely turned his head to see her standing there beside him. His hair was flattened on his head, making him look probably just as drenched as she was. With a hint of pink creeping into her cheeks, she bit her lower lip and ran a hand through her own soaked hair.
What was it about Teddy that made her antsy around him? Anna had admitted only recently that she sort of fancied him, but it had been in a mildly jesting situation. She thought he liked her, too, but she was still a little nervous about moving forward with anything. She had never dated anyone, much less had a serious crush on a friend, so her stomach was almost instantly full of butterflies when she spotted him.
"I was running lines for theatre," she responded. "We have a huge test in a few days. The last one before finals," she added with a nervous smile. Anna wasn't afraid of failing any of her classes, especially theatre, but finals always made her a little jumpy to think about. "And I didn't feel like standing around and getting soaked," she added with a laugh.
Her cheeks were most definitely pink now, she could feel it. "I bet I look awful," Anna said with a short chuckle. She glanced up at him, her pale eyes watching him with a shy smile. She knew she was being ridiculous... being embarassed for him to see her looking like this. But she couldn't quite help it. When Anna crushed, she tended to crush pretty hard. This was no exception.
A few raindrops managed to slip their way between the tree branches and leaves, landing on her shoulder and making her glance temporarily down to brush some water off her clothes. Another landed on her nose and she shook her head a little, her hair getting even more plastered on her neck and cheeks. "What about you?" she queried, softly but loud enough to be heard over the pounding rain. Her slender fingers reached up to pull her hair out of her face and across her shoulder as she looked up at Teddy with that same, shy smile.

Raindrops that were locked in his hair, that was down around his ears and face now, would run down the length of the hair and gather themselves on the tip. Eventually, they would dangle long enough to fall. This annoyed him for the pure reason that when it happened right in front of his eyes; it would end up landing around his eyes and nose. Teddy reached up and wiped his face, just making it even more wet with the sleeve of his jacket. He finally just shook his head violently, trying to get as much water off of it as possible. Of course, the tree wasn't a completely solid shelter so more often than not, more water would be added to his already soaked hair and head. So he just gave up, and tried to ignore the rain droplets.
He looked at Anna once more, as one of the damned drops got into his eye; blurring his vision. He wiped at it, so he could see Anna properly as he spoke. "Oh, it's fine," he replied and shrugged gently. Teddy noticed that Anna's makeup was running; her hair sticking to her face; not too mention she looked like she'd just got dunked in a pool. But to him, she still looked good. Then again, that was Teddy for you. When he crushed on someone, they always looked flawless in his eyes; no matter what the situation, or how many flaws they actually had. Teddy had only acted on one crush, and that left his poor heart in pieces. This fact stopped him from acting on this particular crush. If he hadn't even met that first girl, he probably would've already talked to Anna about it.
But his ex-girlfriend had come into his life. He remembered her like it was yesterday. She was new to the school, and had no idea of where to go. Teddy, always having gentleman-like qualities in him, helped her. She had no idea how much of a geek he actually was. So, the next day, he asked her out. She'd said yes. The next day after that, she knew everything and broke it off then. He guessed that this type of situation would never happen with a girl like Anna; especially at a new school. But any situation could happen, and just that thought kept him away.
The boy shook his head again, but this time it was to get the thoughts out of his head. For some reason, he wasn't afraid to think of his ex. But he realized Anna was talking again, and he wanted to hear what she had to say. "Oh, I see. You nervous?" he asked curiously, leaning against the thick trunk of the tree. "Well, yeah. I don't think anyone could just sit in an open spot and get soaked. Unless they have a reason."
Teddy noticed that a little color had rose in Anna's cheeks, and that made him a little shy. Why? Who knew. It just got him shy; so he looked at the ground and smiled to himself. Hopefully Anna wouldn't notice this fact though. He pulled his head up again, feeling his cheeks get slightly hot; despite the rain. He just hoped they weren't going pink, just hot. "No. You don't look awful." he said honestly, even if he could've said more things on the subject. "I'm sure I look like a drowned rat by now."
He turned his attention back to one spot in particular, where a puddle had begun to form. That shyness hadn't disappeared yet. One thing he did when he was shy; he fidgeted. Constantly. Because of this, his hands began moving; much like the first time he'd met Anna. First they were playing with lint in his jacket pockets, next they were jingling the small change in his pants pockets. He took a deep breath, before turning his attention back to Anna. Finally the shyness slipped away just a little, and he stopped fidgeting. "Oh, I decided to take a bit of a walk for such a nice day. Not such a nice day, right now though." he replied, flashing her a small smile. "Are you cold?" he asked curiously, ready to offer her his jacket. I mean, it was pretty wet on the outside; but he was fairly warm inside.

"A little," she admitted with a small, sweet smile that unfortunately gave way to her shy tendencies. "It's those silly nerves, you know," she added, rolling her eyes at her own answer. Anna wasn't necessarily fidgety when she was anxious, she just had that look about her. It was difficult to pinpoint the differences; maybe it was the width of her pupils, the slightly thinner appearance of her lips, or the way she stood almost completely still. Either way, it was an obvious giveaway when she was nervous.
Anna was hardly aware when Teddy smiled and looked down at the ground. Her own butterflies were keeping her from just about everything. Raindrops continued to fall on the tree limbs and drip on her forehead and nose. More and more often she was reaching up her hand to brush the droplets from her face.
She giggled and shook her head, her gaze lingering just a little longer than usual when he suggested his own appearance wasn't up to par. "I don't think you do." The pink in her cheeks flared once more despite the chill in the air. She reached a hand up to idly rub the tiny goosebumps creeping across the skin on her arm. "You look great," she added in a frighteningly soft tone. A blush was on her cheeks, the warmth traveling through her face. The butterflies were even more violent now, making her stomach tingle. Turning her head to look out in the rain, Anna hoped her words weren't too bold.
"Um, it's a little cold," she said with a smile in his direction. Her pale eyes dropped to the ground. She was blushing from the crush she had on her friend, but it didn't necessarily feel uncomfortable. Different, maybe, but not bad.

Teddy felt himself getting even more soaked, if that was even possible. For a moment he thought he'd gotten as wet as he could be, but apparently there was an even wetter level. But luckily his jacket was thick enough so he could be at least a little warm inside of it. "Ah, nerves. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em." he commented, pointing a smile in his direction. He studied her for a brief moment, trying to figure out what she was thinking. He couldn't understand what she was feeling right now though. He was never good at reading people unless he knew them really well.
He glanced down at himself absentmindedly, as he pulled his hands out and wiped at his hair and face. It didn't do much though. "Gosh. I hate being this wet!" he exclaimed, with a small smirk. He was getting a little cold now, but he shrugged that off. He wasn't really worried about feeling cold.
Anna's next words made his cheeks go hot again. He couldn't help it, he felt the heat flare; and again hoped it wasn't showing. "Well, I must say you don't look as bad as you think you do." 'Actually, you look awesome.' he added in his head. He downcast his eyes, watching that puddle get bigger as the rain continued. 'Why is she saying these things? Is it just a friendly thing, or is it more?' He forced those thoughts out of his mind. Anna couldn't--wouldn't like him like that. She knew him was a friend, and nothing more.
"Oh, are you?" he asked, lifting his hands up. He pulled off his jacket, and held it out for her. "It looks pretty wet, but it's nice inside," he added, and gave her a smile. Teddy didn't mind getting wet on his chest, arms, and back; if Anna was warmer. "Go on," he added, still smiling.

Anna nodded at his mention of nerves, not really feeling the need to add on anything. She ran another hand through her hair. Thanks for the sudden and frightening forecast, Anna had wasted a decent amount of time curling the ends of her hair. I bet I look like a poodle, she thought suddenly, her eyes widening for a split second.
A sweet grin played on the corners of her lips when he smirked and dismissed the rain. "Aw, it isn't all bad," she said with a lingering smile in his direction. Anna pulled the clinging strands of hair away from her neck and across her shoulder again. Though she didn't particularly like standing in the pouring rain and getting soaked to the bone, Anna could handle it for awhile. One thing she couldn't take, however, was the feeling of clinging hair on the nape of her neck. It was quite possibly the most awkward feeling. She seemed antsy with the multiple times she grabbed her hair and pulled it around her shoulder, but it was more paranoia than nervousness.
She blushed again and looked down at the shoes on her feet. They were completely drenched, making her smile fade just a little when she realized how cold her feet were. Silly spring rains! "Thanks," she managed to get out with another soft tone. "I'll believe it when I see it," she added with a small laugh. For all Anna knew, she looked horrible and he was just being sweet. Or, was he really serious? She wasn't entirely sure.
When he pulled off his jacket and offered it to her, Anna hesitated. She shifted her weight; the cold wasn't too harsh. It was more the low temperature the rain cast over the city. "But then you'll get cold," she said with a slight twinge of complaint in her voice. When he beckoned her to take it, she gave him one more lingering glance before taking it and wrapping it around her small body. "You didn't have to, you know."

Teddy yawned a little, before wiping his forehead. His hair had pretty much done the same as Anna's, but it wasn't as bad for Teddy. His hair only barely reached his ears; where as Anna's hung past her shoulders. He was happy that he'd gotten it cut before going out when it was supposed to rain. If it was the length it was before, it'd be down in front of his eyes and probably refuse to go anywhere. Right now though, it wasn't so bad. Some if it was plastered to his neck and forehead, but that was one of the last things he was thinking about.
"Yeah, I guess it's not." he replied. He followed it up with a smile as he looked at the girl. "But I feel like a drowned rat at the moment," he added jokingly; a small smirk playing across his lips. Teddy dug one hand into one of his jeans pockets, the other hand still holding his jacket out to her. He didn't mind though; he guessed that she probably didn't want his jacket. But she said she was a little cold, so he wouldn't take no for an answer.
Only a brief second later, his hand was pulled out of his pocket and pushing the soggy hair away from his forehead as best he could. "Ah, if you could see yourself right now, you'd think you look horrible. Everyone is always most judgeful of themselves." he commented, and shrugged. It was true. Even if Teddy thought she looked okay, she would probably think she looked horrible. And even though Anna thought he looked okay, he probably would think he looked horrible. It was just human nature.
"It doesn't matter," he replied, to her statement about him getting cold. He didn't really care if he got cold. Back in Regina, he used to go out in the rain with just a t-shirt and jeans on, and just sit. Let himself get soaked to the bone, as his mind went wild. It was usually times like those when he would think about why he was treated so badly. "I know, I know. But you said you were cold!" he exclaimed, with a shrug.

Anna smiled as the small smirk crossed Teddy's features. She didn't think he resembled a drowned rat at all. On the contrary, she found him more handsome now, hair pressed flat against his head with rain droplets clinging to each and every strand. Shaking her head and watching him with dancing eyes, Anna just let out a small laugh, not sure what else to say.
"You're probably right," she said in agreement, nodding slowly and looking down at her soggy clothes. Her dark overshirt was completely drenched, giving way to see through to the gold tank underneath. She didn't need to lift her hand to her face to know her mascara was running and probably making her look like something from a horror film. Brushing her finger across the bottom of her eye, Anna pulled away a decent amount of black. Oh well.
"But still," she argued with a playful smile, her eyes soft as she watched him with the tiniest upturn of her lips. She would have argued more, but another couple suddenly made their presence quite clear with a loud cough. Turning her head to the left, Anna caught the sight of a man and woman, probably in their late twenties. They were decked to the nines in what appeared to be punk attire, both standing out like sore thumbs in contrast to Teddy and Anna.
It wasn't until they shot the two university students a sharp glare and pulled out their smokes that Anna took a step the side. She couldn't stand the smell of cigarette smoke. It drove her to a horrible fit of coughing every time she was around it. Glancing over at Teddy, she nodded in the direction of the open rain.
With a slight humour dancing on her lips, she decided this would potentially be entertaining. Biting back the nerves and butterflies quarreling in her stomach, Anna reached out to take Teddy's hand and pulled him in the opposite direction of the couple and into the pouring rain. The rain drops weren't falling too hard, now, though it wasn't necessarily the gentle, romantic summer rain. Even so, Anna couldn't help but laugh and shake her head in pity when she looked over at Teddy. She wasn't sure what had gotten into her, but now they were both standing in the middle of the deserted park with rain falling all around them.

Teddy cleared his throat slightly nervously, letting the silence grow between them. To him it was a half comfortable and half uncomfortable silence; so he didn't really try to say anything. There wasn't much to say anyways, at least until Anna said something more. He buried both hands in his jean pockets, which was a little tougher than usual, considering. Denim was rather tough to work with when it was extremely wet, like it was now.
He heard a cough, and he pulled himself from the tree and glanced around. He couldn't help but wonder what they were doing out here; despite the fact that he and Anna were as well. But his question was answered when they pulled out their cigarettes. He was just pulling his head back around, when Anna grabbed his hand and pulled him out into the direct path of the rain. It shocked him a little, but he ended up holding her hand as well.
"Alright, well, I must admit something. This running black makeup you have, isn't all that great," he commented jokingly. He kept holding onto her one hand, barely noticing what he was doing. He lifted his free hand up and touched her one cheek gently, wiping the majority of the makeup away with two fingers. He did this gently and softly, not forcibly in any way. He wiped it on his pants, before doing it to the other side; repeating the motion of wiping it. "There, I must say that's better," he whispered, only then realizing he was still holding her hand.
Instead of blushing profusely and pulling away, he blushed profusely and stayed exactly where he was. He couldn't help it. Besides, Anna had initiated the hand-holding in the first place. Whether it was just supposed to be a friendly way of moving Teddy from under the tree or not, he didn't much care at the moment.

His palm wrapped to around her own, fitting into the mold of her hand when she dragged him out into the rain in a small fit of laughter. She wasn't quite sure what had come over to that gave her the extra boost of confidence to take his hand. It didn't seem to matter though, since he hadn't withdrawn or freed himself from her small grasp.
She felt a flurry of flutters in her chest when he touched his finger to her cheek. Her laughter faded, a small smile barely visible on her parted lips. She didn't move while he wiped away her running mascara and eyeliner. His touch was gentle, not at all intrusive or rough. It surprised her, quite honestly. She would have imagined his hands to be more callused from playing guitar, but everyone was full of surprises.
The whisper only escalated the beat of her heart. Matched with his hand in hers and the rain falling all around, Anna bit her lower lip and lifted her eyes to watch him. He was blushing, like her, making her let out a short, very quiet, laugh and glance at the ground before looking at him one more time. Then, slowly and hesitantly, she picked up her nerve. Pushing herself just slightly on her tip-toes, Anna kissed him softly on the lips. She had no idea what pursuaded her to do it, but it had happened and there was no changing it now. Pulling back away from him, Anna watched him in a sudden anxious anticipation, hoping he wasn't going to be furious at her.
