Chance sat in the library, it's surroundings completely silent. A book lay open in front of her, a notebook beside it. God, she hated having to write a paper and having nothing to write about. She loved history, God knew that. But, why should she care how the Industrial Revolution affected both Europe and America. Come on, seriously. It happened over a hundred years ago. Why should she care?
Frustrated, Chance let out an agitated sigh and flipped the page of her book, roughly. Screw school! her brain was loudly screaming at her. Forget this and go have a smoke! And oh boy, was she tempted. It was taking all of her strength not to throw down the pencil and run out of the library as fast as her legs could take her. Though, just as quickly as the thought entered her head, she pushed it aside. The sooner you get this done, the faster you can go and have your smoke... she thought to herself and pressed her pen into her mouth.

I'm SO sorry it took me ages to reply. >.< I've been going in and out of the hospital for my grandmother these past few days. :[
Holding a large stack of books all just on Psychology and how human brains work, Rebecca struggled to see where she was going as she passed a shelf of books and bumped into people on the way. Luckily for her (and of course, the many annoyed people) though, the library was not as full of people as it usually was considering just her and her occasional clumsy self could be considered as pretty hazardous to some.
Catching a small glimpse of a table near by, she made her way towards it, not realizing that it was already occupied, and spilled her books on it. She scrunched up her face at the sound it caused and bit her lip at the feeling of people glaring at her. Choosing not to ignore it, she quickly made a move to apologize before suddenly realizing the table already being occupied by none other than another person who looked to be around her age, probably older but she definitely looked to be a college student.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't notice this table was taken," she apologized sincerely, picking up the books that were now sprawled out on the table, a few lying on the girl's notebook. Rebecca bit her lip, contemplating on whether or not to continue and what to say if she continued. A silence lingered between the two for a moment before she parted her lips again to speak.
"Do you mind if I sit here?"

Chance snuck out a bag of chips and opened them, chewing on them carefully. She tried her hardest not to draw attention to herself. She grinned mischievously and continued to read. Every once and a while, she would pop another chip in her mouth.
She thought she had won in her war when someone's books came crashing down on her table. Chance jumped, her bag flying to the ground. Crap... she thought, scrunching up her nose. The librarian looked over at her, her eyes glaring. Chance simply rolled her eyes at the woman and bent down to pick up the spilled chips. She roughly shoved them in the bag and dropped them on the table.
It was then that she finally looked up at the girl who dropped her books on the table. She gave her a soft smile...well, almost soft. Actually, it was more of a forced one. "It's quite alright," she said and started in on her book again. When the girl didn't go away and asked if she could sit down, Chance's eyes darted up. "Yeah...um...sure."
((OOC-Heh, it's alright. I completely understand.))

Yay! By the way, what do you want Chance's and Rebecca's relationship to be?
Struggling not to raise an eyebrow as a reflex to the obvious animosity coming from the girl sitting down on the other side of the table across from Becca, she bit her tongue and nodded, sitting down forcefully. See, if it wasn't for her being practical and mature she would've just rolled her eyes and found another table. However, moving to another table when she didn't exactly like the said person sitting there after politely asking her if she could? To her, that would've seemed like a pretty immature act. "Thanks," she muttered, pulling the books sprawled on the table towards her before piling one on top of the other.
An eerie silence passed between the two for a moment, and it wasn't the typical Library silence type of thing either; it was just really awkward. Becca couldn't recall ever coming across this girl before and wondered if they had ever met. Of course, New Jersey may not be the biggest state in America but many people from Rutherford are also outsiders from other states and ever countries. Deciding to push aside the animosity and silence between them, Rebecca extended her hand for her to shake.
"Sorry, I don't think we've met before. I'm Rebecca, by the way," she said, trying to be as friendly as possible.

Chance glanced up again to the girl across from her. "I'm Chance," she said, nodding. Her mind was elsewhere. She really wanted those chips and now her stomach was growling like a bear. Man, was she hungry. College life was no joke when it came to finding food. Stale noodles and crusted macaroni and cheese were definitely not her cup of tea.
"God, I'm hungry," she stated aloud, not really thinking about it. Chance had a bad habit of making outbursts out of nowhere. She was sure that it came from her inability to keep her feelings and thoughts to herself. "Are you hungry?" she asked, looking up at the woman who sat across from her. "I mean, it doesn't seem to be any place where you can get food around here..."

Pulling back her extended hand, she bit her lip and resorted to just nodding and faked a smile. There was no way this girl, one she barely knew, could ruin her on this beautiful day. A bright sunny day, that although is best not to be spent shutting herself inside a library, still brightened up her mood somehow. She loved rainy days, as well, but unless she's the one dancing outside wet and soaked, then there really isn't much to do on days like those.
Glancing from the side of her eye as Chance spoke, Rebecca ran her tongue along her lips. She too was quite hungry but although it was her fault the chips had spilled, felt no guilt towards something as small as that. That is... only if she was purposely saying this to make Rebecca feel guilty about what it is that she had done previously, on accident. "Uhm, well there is a Starbucks just a few blocks away from here," she suggested, unaware of whether or not she was a coffee lover.
