"Can you read my mind yet?" She leaned in close to him and smiled. ”Right now you are thinking,” she paused for a second, the smile still on her face. ”You are thinking that Blair is the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen,” she leaned back, winking playfully at him. Diving for compliments was something Blair always tried to accomplish in the most subtle way ever, know it was more playful and meant for nothing more then to flirt with this boy, but she could be known to seek out any form of praise. She was sometimes annoying like that.
”Amen to that,” she replied to his surfing and drinking comment, lifting her glass in a fake toast. Hell, it was the truth. She was raised on the beach in the life of luxury. Studying and books were not her idea of a good time, and yet she had made it this far. Perhaps farther then anyway could have ever expected from a girl like Blair, and it was proving everyone wrong that got her butt out of bed every morning to class. She needed to do to prove to herself she could do something over then get wasted and have sex. She needed a higher purpose.
”Awww, sweetie, thanks.” Whether he meant or not, Blair didn’t care. It was something nice to hear and as far as she knew Shane was a nice guy and she liked nice guys. ”I know, it gets though being all alone in such a big city, especially when it’s so foreign,” she shook her head slightly. ”The first week here was horrible. I got lost so many times,” she shrugged her shoulders. The first week had been one of those weeks that she’d always remember. University was knew to here and shuffling herself around, trying to make friends as well as make her classes proved to be tough. Especially when the friend making trumped her school work. She was paying for that now with late study nights and lots of coffee.
”But, it’s all good now.” [/blockquote]

"Oh! OH! You're good. Damn good." He said, leaning back in his chair again and bringing his cup with him, cradling it in his hands and being careful not to spill it all over himself. That could be embarassing. She really was quite beautiful though. He had always thought so. A lot of people found that rather annoying, the way a girl would seek approval of sorts. But Shane had always liked it when a girl was confident with herself, it was always easier being friends with girls who couldn't be anybody but themselves.
He lifted his cup in the air in their mock toast to their beachy history. He took a sip from it and looked down into it for a moment, and there was a slight twinge in his heart where the smell of that beach used to lay. It felt like he had been away for years already, and it had only been a few days. Just then, he had an idea.
"I hope you don't have class today." He said, setting his mug down and sitting up straight again. "Cause you're not going." He could just imagine her reaction to THAT one. But, he could work on her. "You feel like going to the beach?" What do you do when the thing you miss the most is hanging out at the beach with a friend? Hang out at the beach with a friend of course. "I won't take no for an answer, so pack your shit and grab your coat dear, we're leaving." Sure, it was cold outside. But they both had coats. They'd survive. He just hoped she didn't poor that still rather warm coffee down him and kick him where it hurt the most at the mere suggestion.

"I hope you don't have class today." She noticed as he sat up straight and his tone turned to a playful serious tone. She did have class today, in fact if she wanted to make it on time, she would have to leave soon, but she found herself hesitant to answer, waiting for the reason he had asked her the question in the first place. "You feel like going to the beach?" She smiled as she took a sip of her coffee, trying to decide if she really wanted to go to the beach. It was the middle of winter and freezing out, plus she had no idea where the nearest beach was. He appartently however, had already made up her mind was telling to get her coat, they were leaving.
Blair couldn’t help but want to go, even though it would involve her missing class. It may sound ridiculous and stupid, but she felt special that this boy from her past wanted to spend time with her. ”Well, technically I do have class,” she began before pausing for a second. ”But, it’s the beach, so how could I possibly turn it down?” So, Blair stood up and grabbed her stuff. It might actually be fun she told herself. She need to learn that it didn’t take alcohol and random boys to make her life fun. No, she needed spontaneity and today seemed like the best time to start.
”So, question. Your car or mine?”

Of course he was well aware that it was very close to below something outside. The beach wasn’t the smartest place to be, but skipping out on class wasn’t very smart either. Perhaps if you did two stupid things at once they cancelled each other out and I turned out to be a very wise decision. He watched her drink away at her coffee as she pondered her response, and a part of him felt bad. She was here trying to make something of herself and here he was talking her into skipping out on her future.
He was disappointed for a moment when she said she did have class, but his entire face lit up as she accepted his offer. “SWEET!” He said, getting up and dumping his empty coffee cup into the garbage, shoving his hand in his pocket and fishing out his keys as she packed up her stuff. He was glad she was willing to get in on this. She could learn how to read minds later. He didn’t even know if he HAD classes around here. “My car.” He said, dangling his keys from his finger before snatching them in his palm again. “The ‘stang was meant for days like these.” He laughed, offering her his arm to lead her out of the café. Anyone from home knew that he loved his car more than he loved a lot of people (Blair NOT being one of them). He had no problem being the DD if it meant he could drive. "Besides, it goes faster." He joked, his grin spreading just a little farther.
