Teddy's eyes studied Lexi for a moment. It was almost odd that she was being so incredibly nice to him, and for no real reason. 'I guess that's what friendships are supposed to be like...' he thought to himself. He already knew what friendships were like. But this was still quite new to him. It was a good feeling though. For the longest time, he didn't even know what having one friend was like. But now he was glad that he'd had the chance.
As he listened to her talk, he couldn't help but continue to smile. It truly was a good feeling. He let it fade though, to a still happy but non-smiling expression. "Second thoughts? How come?" he questioned. "I mean, if you're comfortable in telling me." he added, and shrugged lightly. He didn't want to seem like he was trying to dig into her privacy. That'd be the last thing he would want her to think.
He always wondered about secrets. Why do people have them? And why do they try so hard to keep them secrets? Especially when they only tell certain people. I mean, he did it too, so he couldn't really talk. But it was a weird concept, if you really thought about it. I mean, somebody hiding something about their past, because they are afraid of anyone finding out about it? Why should someone be afraid of letting anyone know about their past? The past is a part of you, and you shouldn't be ashamed; no matter what went on or how it went.

Teddy's smile was really nice, it was one of the kinds of smiles that you couldn't help but return. So Lexi returned it with a genuine smile of her own. This was nice, they could chat a little, and smile at each other, without any consequences. She'd had guy friends before, this was nothing new, and she enjoyed Teddy's company.
As he asks her about why she was thinking about changing majors, Lexi scrunches her face up into a thoughtful grimace. Why was she having second thoughts? She didn't mind Teddy asking her, and she wanted to answer him. "I'm not really sure, it could just be those sophomore blues, wondering if I made the right choice. I mean, it's not easy, but sometimes I think I should have chosen something a little more difficult. But I can't see myself doing theater, art, or even music. Um, no offence, playing music just isn't in me. Something more to do with the outdoors, I love being outside."
Smoothing her face into a slight grin, Lexi shrugs her shoulders, not really embarrassed from talking about her feelings on her major. She was curious whether Teddy felt the same, and she really wanted to find out. "You ever feel that way about anything, Teddy? Like you should have gone a different direction? And hoped that you could change, before it was too late?" Her dark eyes were friendly, only a hint of a question in them. She hoped he answered her question, maybe it could help her answer her own doubts.

Teddy noticed Lexi's smile, and he liked it. It was one of those smiles that could probably cheer you up. It just had a certain quality to it, that made you almost warm inside. It was weird that Teddy was feeling this way, but it'd been the same when he was first getting to know Evelyn.
Listening to her answer to his question, his lips curved into a thoughtful expression. She was almost right. Sometimes you have to do something to challenge yourself, or you never feel that success that happens when you do something that you struggled with. "Yeah, true. It's always good to challenge yourself a little bit." he said, his expression still thoughtful.
Teddy continued thinking, but this time it was about something else. Yeah, he had wished he could change before it was too late. But there was nothing he could do about what he wanted to change. It was during his last two years in Regina. He wanted human contact; be able to socialize. Of course, that would need some sort of eclipse, and change all the minds of Regina High. "Yeah, I have actually. Accept, I didn't have the power to change it, like you do in this case." he replied. He no longer looked thoughtful. It changed back to the happy-but-non-smiling one of before.

Smiling at him still, Lexi watched his expression change several times. If she thought about it, Teddy's face was very expressive, especially when he wasn't saying much at all. And her questions were making him think. But was he thinking about his answer, or was he thinking about how much to share with her? It didn't really matter, she wasn't going to make him tell her what he felt.
But there was something else going on inside of his head, and Lexi wanted to know what it was. But how could she find out? She looks at his eyes, a little sympathy filling hers, and her expression becomes one of concern. "Teddy, that's so sad, you must have felt a little helpless. I hope it worked itself out, you're here, anyways. I'm guessing you want to be here." Having said what she wanted to say, she didn't want to spend too much time on it. Trying to change the subject a little, she says, "Anyway, what do you think I should do? Stay in my current major, or change to a different one?" She was always looking for another opinion, and she hoped that Teddy would share his thoughts on what she should do with her.
((When Teddy said he didn't have the power to change his direction, Lexi feels a little sad for him. She thinks that it was a helpless feeling for him, not being able to do anything about it. If it still doesn't make sense, PM me, and I'll edit.))

Suddenly, Teddy began thinking about Kendra; his older sister. He always seemed to have conversations like this with her. About nothing, yet everything. Light and happy, yet serious. He'd always liked these type of conversations, where it was serious yet you could still laugh and joke. It was right in the middle...safe. Not digging too deep below the surface.
Teddy heard Lexi's voice again, and he went back to listening to her. It was interesting what she'd said. 'I'm guessing you want to be here...' So that was the impression she got from him. Not a bad one; and that's what he'd been going for. "Yeah. Helpless." He'd never thought of it that way. He always thought it was something he was doing wrong. Something he had to fix about himself. But no...he was completely helpless in that situation.
Instead of answering her question right away with a 'I dunno', or a 'whatever you want' kind of answer, he actually took a little to think about it. "Well... It depends. If you're not happy with your current major, which it sounds like you're not having so much fun with it, then you should change it. Because challenges and fun is what college is all about...right?" So, it was pretty much 'do what you want'. But he couldn't rightly say yes or no, since it wasn't his life that they were talking about.
[Ohh. Gotcha. Mkay]

Lexi didn't find out as much as she wanted, Teddy's reply was not very long or descriptive. But he appeared to agree with what she had said about his situation. She wasn't trying to force her point of view on him, or anything like that. If they had more conversations like this, maybe they would reveal more to each other. But keeping things light and simple was really working for them right now.
Teddy's thoughtful look caught Lexi's attention, this was going to be something that would be worth listening to, when he said it. As she listened, she was reminded of some of her guy friends from high school, they were cool to hang out with, and just talk about anything. Nodding slightly, as she watched him, she glances away, as she thinks about what he had said. Her gaze shifts back to him, as she says, "Yeah, that's right. Sometimes I think I'm trying to have too much fun. But it's so much... fun! And I'll have to think about it some. But thanks for sharing your thoughts with me." She then smiled lightly, in appreciation, still wanting to know more about Teddy.
Deciding to move on to other questions she could ask, in her desire to find out more, Lexi doesn't want to feel like she is playing twenty questions with him. But how could she get him to talk a little more about himself? Biting her lip in thought, she looks at him, her brows furrowing in concentration. "What other things are you into, Teddy, besides music, and hanging with friends? What really gets you interested in something?" Maybe a bold question, but maybe she needed to ask it, and he might share something else with her.
((kinda lame, sorry!))

Why was Lexi asking him for his opinion on the subject? It's not like Teddy could decide her future for her. Teddy usually didn't ask questions like that. Even if he was curious about what the other person thought on the subject, he held those kind of questions back. He saved them for when he needed to think about anything but a certain thing, and he'd ask himself. Weird, maybe. But that's how he did things.
His fidgeting habit was kicking in yet again. That was one thing about Teddy that people probably didn't like. He always had to be moving some part of his body. Whether it was his fingers, his hands, his legs, anything. As long as something was in motion. Since he didn't want to give off a vibe that he was nervous or uncomfortable, he grabbed his guitar out of the case, and put the strap over his shoulders. "Do you mind if I just...strum? Quietly?" he asked. Why he asked was beyond him.
"Yeah. Well, I guess too much fun is a bad thing. But you can't lose yourself in much of anything. Because then one day you wake up and realize you're not having fun anymore." he said thoughtfully, as he began strumming away without her consent. It was quiet, and practically unnecessary. But it was satisfying his fidgeting habit.
When her next question passed her lips, Teddy was sent off in thoughts. What was it that he liked to do, besides music and hanging with friends? Well...partying. But he couldn't think of anything else. "Party. I like to party." he said, in a light almost joking tone. "I dunno. Why don't you ask specific questions? It's easier for me that way." He looked up at Lexi and smiled at her, as he continued to strum on the guitar in his lap.

Teddy grabbing his guitar out of the case caught Lexi off guard, she wasn't exactly sure what was going on. Maybe it was nerves, or something else, it didn't really bother her. And it was kind enough for him to ask. "Sure, um, knock yourself out. I don't mind at all." Smiling a little, to hide her confusion, she doesn't think much more about it.
Listening to him talk about fun, Lexi couldn't fund anything wrong in what he had said. "Too much can be a bad thing. And I try not to lose myself in something, at least not too much, because your right. Sounds like we think alike in some ways, Teddy." A playful grin, and a wink, as she acts like they had something in common. Which she thought that they did, it was showing in how well they were communication with each other.
Lexi's brown eyes light up a little when Teddy talks about partying. It almost sounded like they had a lot in common. Grinning at his tone, she exclaims, "Hey, I like to party too! We'll have to hang out at one together sometime, it'll be fun." As he smiled at her, still strumming on his guitar, and wants her to ask specific questions, Lexi shrugs her shoulders. "Okay, okay, I'll ask you a couple, then you can ask me a couple. Um, let me see... Do you have a girlfriend? Do you live on campus or off campus? Do you have a job? Three is enough for now." Those questions weren't too personal, and would give her some more information, hopefully. And then Teddy could ask some questions of his own.

Teddy tilted his head downwards, watching his fingers dance across the strings. Right now, he was just playing..well, randomness really. First it'd be the intro of 'Smoke On The Water', then the ending of 'Better Than Me', and then a little of one of his one songs. Pretty much ever it is he wanted, really. He was still playing quietly though, as he awaited Lexi's reply.
He pulled his head up to look at her again as she spoke, to prove that he was listening to her. He still played though. "Yeah, I guess we do." he said, almost appreciatively. He returned her smile, but instead of a wink he gave a small nod. "Weird, how people think in the same ways. Sometimes it's surprising at who will. Not saying you and me, but like... hmm..." He had to think about this one. "Like, a 'jock' and an 'emo' person. There's a chance that they could think alike." He really disliked using labels like that, but it was really the only way to get his point across.
Teddy strummed some more, listening to what Lexi had to say next. "Yeah, we should." he agreed, and a smile played across his lips again. His comment was genuine. He wanted to spend more time with Lexi, and find out more about her. "Alright. Girlfriend, no. Haven't since...that girl I told you about. I live in an apartment with Evelyn off campus. I'm surprised you didn't know that. And the job status, well...not yet. I'm working on it." he explained, and laughed a little. He was strumming the entire time, and he hoped it wouldn't bother the girl he was talking to. "Mmkay. Well, this time I'll stick with the same questions. Do you have a boyfriend? Do you live on campus or off campus? And do you have a job?"

Lexi's gaze drifted toward Teddy's fingers on the guitar, they were moving very quickly. He was playing some things that sounded familiar to her, and some that didn't. It sounded very good to her, and she was amazed at how good he really was at playing. Maybe he would play in public sometime, and she could go listen to him. Then more people could appreciate his talent.
As Teddy smiles, talking about how much alike they were, Lexi chuckles a little at his comparison of different types of people. He was right about that, and it gave her another chance to tease him a little. Placing her finger on the end of her chin, her brown eyes twinkling slightly, she gazes at Teddy's face. "Yeah, it is weird, and surprising. I know what you mean, about 'jocks' and 'emo', people are more alike then they think they are, usually. But, you know, that also applies to art historians, and musicians, too." Lightly laughing, she would only tease people that she really liked, and she had reached that point with Teddy.
When Teddy agreed that they should hang out at a party together, Lexi nods, she was glad that he wanted to do that. "Cool! I'll give you call sometime, and we'll go do it. But I might need your number, unless you want to make me look it up." A slight laugh, she hoped he didn't get offended by her teasing him, sometimes people did. But Teddy didn't seem to be the type that would get offended.
Lexi listened to Teddy answer her questions, she noticed that he skimmed over the part about his ex girlfriend. And he pointed out something that she did already know, what was she thinking? Gently slapping her head with the palm of her hand, she grins at Teddy, shaking her head. "Duh, I knew that! That's cool, I'm glad you're there to help her, if she needs it. And what kind of job are you looking for, Teddy? Or have you started looking yet?" Maybe she could help him, if she knew some people that could help him find a job.
Now it was her turn, and she listened, Teddy was asking her the same questions. "Okay, I don't have a boyfriend, I have been dating, but no one steady. I live on campus, in the dorms, I have a roommate, but she's never around, so I have the place to myself a lot. And I don't have a formal job, I'm doing work-study at the Metropolitan Museum this semester." Now she wanted to ask him some more questions, but what could she ask? Thinking for a little bit, she smiles, as she says, "My turn again. What things that you see or do are the most fun? Which ones are the least fun?"

Teddy began playing 'Better Than Me', the one he'd played not so long ago for Lexi. He wasn't planning to sing this time though. He was just playing for the fun of it as he had a conversation. He ended up changing once again, to 'Lips Of An Angel'. He hadn't played it in a while. 'Honey why you callin me so late, it's kinda hard to talk right now...' He sung to himself, awaiting Lexi to talk again.
When she did, he immediately stopped singing to himself, and paid attention. "Hm. Weird how you just described you and me." He said, with a knowing smile. The statement might have sounded a little dumb, but he knew what Lexi had meant. He was just replying in a different way. "I know it was a little juvenile of me to say 'jocks' and 'emo'. But...yeah." he added. It wasn't a great way of explaining what he meant, but he just left it at that.
Teddy pretended to think for a moment, before speaking again, "You know, I'd like to see if I actually get a call from you if I let you look it up." he said with a smirk. He let that marinate for a couple minutes, and added, "Yeah. I'll give it to you. I don't think I have any paper with me right now though." He'd forgotten to stick some in his guitar case. He usually had paper and a pen along with him, just in case he got a good idea for a song. But today, he didn't.
"Yeah... I just hope we don't have a fight and end up screaming at each other day in and day out until one of us moves out." he teased. He knew full well that when they did have a fight, they didn't talk to each other for a couple days, took some time to cool off, and went right back to being best friends again.
Teddy listened to her answer, as he started playing the song again. He'd almost forgotten about the guitar in his lap. "The Met? I've never been...what's it like?" he asked. He was actually curious about it, and wanted to know what Lexi had to say about it. Since she kind of works there, she must have some more definite opinions than other people. "The most fun is a little obvious, I'd say. I love playing my guitar. The least fun though ... fighting with my friends. I know that's probably not the kind of answer that you're looking for, but it's true."

Some of the music Teddy was playing now sounded like what he played before, it made Lexi smile a little as she listened to it. He was really good, and he was singing softly to himself, when they both were not speaking. She thought he must have a very intelligent mind, or a lot of practice, since he could turn that on or off when he wanted. It was something that she hadn't been around very much.
As Teddy joked about her response, and apologized for how he described people's thoughts, Lexi laughed a little, before shaking her head. Shrugging her shoulders, she doesn't want him to think that he was less mature than she was, in the words he used. "Hey, you made your point, and I understood it. Don't beat yourself up over it, if it works for you."
Lexi's eyes widen slightly, when Teddy wants to see if she could look up his number. It wasn't that hard to do, she could reach people when she really needed to do it.She had a lot of experience from being on campus for almost two years. As he tells her that he doesn't have a way of writing down his number for her, Lexi smirks, as she pulls her cell phone out of her back pocket. Holding it up, she points at it, and says, "You know, you really need to get one of these. Just about everyone carries one, and they don't need a pen or paper to work." Flipping open the phone, she goes to her contact list, and starts putting in his name. Still looking at the phone, she says, "Okay, what is it? And I hope you have caller ID when I call you, or I might have to hurt you." Smiling, she was going to tease him about not having a cell phone, when she had the chance.
After getting the number from him, she looks up, listening to him joke about fighting with Evelyn. With a slight look of disbelief, she shakes her head slowly, before grinning at him again. "Yeah, right, I can see that happening. Well, if one of you needs a place to sleep, call me. Like I said, my roommate is never around, so there is a spare bed in my place." She didn't think that they would actually call her for that reason, but she wanted Teddy to know there was another place he could sleep if he needed to get away.
When he asks about her job, Lexi shrugs, she didn't think there was much to tell. "It's very dusty right now, it's been closed for renovations. They took part of the collection, and it's on a tour of the country right now. The rest is in storage, and I'm helping to evaluate the collection, see if any paintings need repair, that kind of thing. It gets me off campus, and into the city, for several hours a week."
As he talks about what was fun, and not so fun, for him, she agreed with him it was a little obvious. But sometimes people would answer that question a little differently, and Teddy seemed to keep his answers simple sometimes. It didn't bother her, and she smiled, sighing slightly. "No, it's fine, it does tell me a little more about you. Is there anything else you do for fun, besides play guitar, Teddy? That's what I should have asked you."
