Thinking she had scored some points with Josh, Lexi chuckled a little, smirking right back. This changed to a hand-over-her-mouth laugh, her eyes squinting with delight, He could be so funny when he wanted to be, and this was one of those times. And where had he picked that up from, she wondered, maybe he was hanging out with the wrong crowd already. Taking up his challenge, she puts a hand on her hip, putting on the attitude act, and glares at him with her dark eyes like he is crazy. "Dang, yo. Don' be a foolio, G, actin' like a gangsta pranksta, 'fo some freaky motha cap ya wit' his nine." Breaking into teeth baring grin, her eyes showing how amused she felt, she didn't want to totally crush his attempt to be funny. "Where did you pick that up? I hope you're not hanging out in the wrong places. I'll have to get Anna, and we'll come find you, before you get into some serious trouble!"
Sipping on her fruity drink, nodding in agreement with what he said, Lexi wanted to make sure that he didn't get too cynical about the city. It was sometimes easy for someone to start really hating the place, unless they got the right exposure to it. He probably just needed more time, and to see a good variety of the different areas of New York, and he would be alright. Chewing on her lip, she thought that maybe she could help him a little. "Hey, once you get that job at the hospital, maybe we can have lunch together one day when I'm at the museum. I'll show you around a little, so you can get a good idea of what the city is like. Some of it is so amazing."
Pushing on his shoulder lightly, Lexi laughs, he had misunderstood her a little. She didn't think she was to the point where she would start slurring her words, she had only had a couple of sips from her wine cooler. "I meant you and me when I said 'we', silly! Yeah, my friend, Teddy, I think he was going to be behind the bar, but I don't see him. Maybe I got the nights mixed up, or he could be in the back. But if you see a totally laid back guy, who looks like he works here, then that's him. It's just hard to see, with so many people in this place, you know?" She takes another look around, she really couldn't see more than ten feet away from her, and sometimes she wished she was a little taller. But she didn't want to be too tall, it would make finding a boyfriend that much harder.
((kinda sux, sorry!))

Joshua couldn't help but chuckle again. He honestly didn't know how he picked up the gangster talk so quickly. But I guess if you're walking along a particularly bad New York street, you hear a lot of it. Just bits and pieces of conversation, but if you try hard enough you can figure it out and pick it up. Yes, Joshua had been trying to learn it as he casually walked along. Why he wanted to learn it confused him a little, but it didn't really matter. "No. I was just walking one day, along one of the streets where the true gangsters hang. I listened, I learned. But I didn't actually talk to them. Besides, I don't need my friend and my sister looking out for me." he said teasingly, with a smile.
The fact that Alexia wanted to have lunch with him didn't surprise him. Sure, it was a little bit of a weird place to plan it; since they were standing in a bar and all. "Yeah, that sounds good." he said appreciatively, another smile passing over his lips. He wanted to get to know New York City a little better; other than just the hospital. Joshua had already been at Rutherford as well, to see Anna, but he didn't actually know it. Although, he probably wouldn't ever know Rutherford. He'd already been to college, and there was no reason for him to be around Rutherford, accept to visit people. "Just give me a shout, whenever it is you're at the museum." Alexia probably didn't know his number, but she could easily get it from Anna. There was no point in exchanging numbers in Coyote Ugly anyways.
"Laid-back guy?" Joshua questioned, as he racked his brain. "Well, I saw one at the door. Checking IDs and stuff." he added, and shrugged. "Maybe that's him." He took another sip of his beer. It was that point that he was ready to dance and have fun. Whether Alexia was ready to or not, Joshua wanted to. He'd go out and find a stranger if that's what it would take.

Smiling right back at him, Lexi laughs at Josh, he was trying to be a big and strong guy. She was going to have to ask Anna if he ever got into trouble back home. She could see the two of them looking for Josh, and she secretly hoped that they would never have to do it. But it was fun to tease him a little about it now. "Well, if we ever have to go looking for you, you will be in big time trouble. So don't ever get to that point, okay? I don't want to have to use my bad gangsta slang skills to try and find you." Laughing lightly, she sips on her wine cooler, it was going down too easy, and she was going to maybe regret it later.
"Sure, I'll do that, Josh. We'll find a good place to go." Lexi returns his smile with a genuine one of her own, it would beat having lunch on her own. And she wanted to help Josh feel like he belonged, not that he was out here all on his own. But she could worry about that later, they were here to have a good time, and she hoped he was having one.
With her dark eyes widening, Lexi turns toward the door, trying to see who was working it. Through a gap in the crowd, she could see him standing by the door, checking IDs, and she raises her hand over her head, waving it frantically in his direction. "Teddy! Woo hoo, over here! Teddy!" Maybe she would get his attention, and maybe not, she might have to go over there and talk to him, because of the crowd noise. Glancing back at Josh, she nods, her brown eyes glinting with excitement. "Yeah, that's him! I might go over and say hi, if he doesn't see me. Do you mind?" She didn't want Josh to think that she was going to ditch him to just go over and talk to Teddy, who wouldn't be able to hang out anyway. But she just wanted to see how Teddy was doing, maybe he was going to do well here.

Teddy was honestly never more bored in his life. He'd situated himself now in such a way so he could lean against a wall near him, and also do his job. It worked for the time being. "ID please." He was starting to sound like a robot. He was on the verge to just stop caring, and just let everyone in. But the fact that he could get fired, and lose a friend, he didn't want to do that. He sighed lightly, before he folded his arms across his chest.
Suddenly, he thought he heard his name get called. He turned his attention briefly to the crowd, trying to put a face to the voice he just heard. Finally, he just shook it off and went back to doing his job. He sighed heavily, before pulling himself up and sitting properly. He hooked his feet among the stool's rungs, as he scanned the few people coming in. There weren't all that many anymore. It was getting late enough that everyone who was coming tonight were already here.

Joshua took another sip of his beer, feeling the alcohol loosen him up even more. "Oh, don't worry. I'm not gonna be going there." He was positive of it. To be brutally honest, he was a little scared of gangsters. They looked so intimidating, like they could kill you at any moment they wish. He sighed lightly, as the music pounded into his ears. It was on the verge of a headache, but not quite yet. Besides, once he started dancing, it would probably go away anyways.
He gave a slight nod in reply, instead of trying to yell a 'yeah'. It was just one simple word, and a nod would have the same effect. Joshua glanced around once more, before turning his attention to the girl again. He really wanted to start having his fun, before he ended up back in his apartment with a major hangover the next morning. He opened his mouth and was just about to ask her to dance, before she cut him off with something about going to see Teddy.
"Yeah, sure. Go ahead. Come find me when you're done." His tone was light and friendly. Joshua honestly didn't care what Lexi did with her time. He hadn't come with her, and they certainly weren't dating; or anything of that sort. Lexi could just turn and walk away without a word, and Joshua would just mesh himself into the crowd and find someone to dance with. Which is what he was about to do, but he would wait until Lexi actually did walk away.

Not seeing a response from Teddy, Lexi knew that she was going to have to go over there, at least to say hello to him. Turning back to Josh, she places her hand on his arm, close to his shoulder, and she smiles warmly at him. "Hey, thanks, Josh! I'm just going to say hi, and I'll be right back. Poor guy is probably working all night long." Patting his arm, she turns, and starts pushing her way through the crowd, making her way toward the door.
Finally getting past a large group of people, she sees that it is Teddy, and her dark eyes widen with excitement. "Teddy! I've been looking for you! Have you been here the whole time?" Reaching for his large shoulder, and resting her small hand there in a companion-like way, she grins, wanting to talk to him for a while. But she didn't want to leave Josh on his own too long, he didn't know many people here yet. Leaning closer to Teddy, so she wouldn't have to yell, Lexi gazes into his eyes, her chocolate browns bright. "So, how's the new job? I thought you were working behind the bar for some reason. I kept looking for you, and someone pointed you out over here."

Teddy frowned lightly, the fact that he'd heard his name bothering him a little. Who would be here tonight that would know him? Well, Lexi of course. Maybe it had been her. But he couldn't spot her at the moment, so he shrugged again and watched the dancing crowd. There wasn't anyone coming in through the door anymore, since mostly everyone had arrived now. This was going to be a long night, and he could tell right now.
He saw Alexia forcing her way through the crowd, and his lips curved into a smile. "Yeah. I am a bouncer, I'm mostly around the door." he said, feeling her hand rest against his shoulder. "So far, it sucks." he added, and folded his arms across his chest. But he still had a smile on his face, so the fact that he'd been trying to act angry didn't work very good. "All I do is check IDs so far." he added, but then shrugged.
It could be worse. He could've ended up a janitor, having to clean the place up. Cleaning toilets, mopping floors and picking up after other people didn't seem all that appealing from the crowd there was tonight.
ooc; I'm not gonna post for Joshua this time. He just meshed into the crowd and started dancing, there's not a whole lot I can post for that.

((makes sense))
Lexi chuckles, her lips parted in a deliberate grin, watching Teddy put on his angry act. So she must have walked right past him, not expecting him to be at the door. "Well, where else would you be, since you are a bouncer? Not behind the bar, like where I was looking for you." Rolling her dark eyes expressively, she pats him on the shoulder, in sympathy. She could only imagine the boredom he was going through. She knew that she wouldn't want to be a bouncer, she wouldn't enjoy throwing people out that much. She could check IDs, but he was right. It did sound very boring.
Tilting her head to the side, a playful, thoughtful expression on her face, she wonders if he wanted some excitement. "Well, I guess you could be tossing drunk people onto the street, but it might not be very fun. What else do bouncers do? Maybe you could work behind the bar too. I'm sure they need someone to carry beer from the back to the bar." Pulling on his shoulder with her hand, she wants to cheer him up, but it's going to be hard. He didn't seem like he had the temperament to be a bouncer. But if it paid the rent, how could you really complain?
Lexi started to wonder how long he was going to have to work. If he had to work all night, then yes, it was going to be very boring. "Hey, if you don't have to work all night, I'm hanging out with Anna's brother Josh. Do you know him? Come and find us, we'll hang out a little, and have some fun. You get breaks, right? You can come find us during one of your breaks." At least that would give him something to look forward to, while he was sitting here, guarding the door. It always helped to pass the time when you had something to do, once you got off of work. Patting his shoulder one more time, she waves, a big smile on her face. "Good to see you, Teddy, remember what I said!" She then turns, and starts working her way toward the bar, now looking for the tall, blond Tennessean she had left behind, just a little while ago.
((bleh post!))

Teddy went back into his job mode for a brief second, his brown eyes studying a single person walking in. The guy most definetly looked old enough so he turned his attention back to Alexia as she spoke. "No, I probably won't spend a whole lot of time behind the bar." he said, and shrugged lightly. At the beginning of the night, when a lot of people were coming in and out, he'd have something to do. But times like now, when the crowd taking the path directly in front of him thinned out, he'd probably hate it.
He raised one eyebrow with a thoughtful expression, before nodding. "Yeah, that makes sense. I might have to do that." he commented, and shrugged. "They do that before it opens up, so it really depends if they run out at some point during the night." he added, before letting the thoughtfulness fade from his face. It was replaced with a smile, since he didn't have much else to talk about at this moment.
But Alexia immediately filled the silent gaps, and Teddy listened to what she had to say. "Yeah, alright. I might see you later tonight, then." he added. That's when he slipped off into his thoughts, trying to put a face to a 'Joshua Bennett'. He'd heard the name before, but he'd never actually seen the guy. A little odd, since he was dating his sister. But I guess the siblings didn't necessarily matter, when you haven't been dating very long yet.

After Alexia had left him to go find her other friend, Joshua hadn't wasted anytime in getting himself on the dance floor. He shoved his way past a couple drunken guys, and that's when he was in the middle of it. Well, not smack in the middle; but it sure felt like it from where he was right now. He had his drink in one hand, taking occasional sips as he danced. The other arm was wrapped around the waist of a stranger. For some strange reason, he liked these chance-meetings on the dance floor. Pretty much just grind up on each other, maybe flirt a little. But when the music stopped you walk away and not think about it after that night. Well, Joshua had gotten himself a rather attractive female to share a chance-meeting dances with. Although she looked a little sluttish, he probably wouldn't have picked a better candidate.
Although, this one didn't last all that long. The people around them were pretty rough with what they were doing, and Joshua and the strange female eventually got pushed away from each other. Joshua, though, was unabashed by this fact. He just went with the flow, in search of another member of the opposite sex. So, right about now, most people are thinking Joshua is just a sex-seeking manwhore. That's where most people were wrong though. Sure, Joshua could have manwhore-ish moments, which often turn into manwhore-ish nights. But no more than that, and he goes back to his original self. Besides, everyone needs to have a little fun, right?
As Joshua manuevered his way across a part of the dance floor, he realized his drink had been knocked out of his hand during the process. "Damn.." he commented to himself, before laughing it off. He wasn't drunk yet, so it was rather funny how he could've lost his drink so quickly. Heading in the other direction, towards the bar, he began shoving the guys out of his way. But the ladies deserved more respect from a man, so he walked around them. It got him to the bar faster though, so that was a bonus. Eventually, he situated himself on a stool, and was trying to get one of the bartenders' attention.

As Lexi was pushing past the final group of people before getting close to the bar, she saw Josh making his way back to bar. It looked like he needed another drink already, she could have sworn that he wasn't drinking that fast. She hoped that she wasn't going to have to help him get home tonight. Taking a sip from her fruity drink, she walks up behind him, wanting to play a little trick on him. Resting her small hand on his back, she leans close to him, letting her fingers trace a circle around his spine. In a sexy voice, she whispers in his ear, "Hey, baby, you want to dance with me?" Waiting for his reaction, with a smirk playing across her lips, her chocolate brown eyes dancing with amusement, she hoped that she surprised him.
When he looked at her, Lexi laughed, enjoying her own little prank, before she chewed on her lip to stop herself. Looking up into his eyes, she grins, thinking that teasing him could be so much fun. "So, did you miss me? Tell the truth, you were all over some woman on the dance floor. Anna warned me about you, I hope I don't have to call her to help me make sure you get home tonight." It was very similar to what she would say to one of her own brothers. In the short time she had gotten to know Josh, she felt like he was a brother to her. And Anna was such a good friend, she didn't want to say or do anything to cause any conflict between them. So she would tease Josh up to a point, but not to where he would get really angry.

Joshua was getting just slightly frustrated, before a bartender appeared out of nowhere in front of him. "Yeah, what can I get you hunny?" He sighed lightly, before actually thinking about what he'd like. Maybe he should've thought about it, before trying to get the attention of a bartender. "Umm... I don't know yet. I'll get back to you." he said, slightly embarrassed. But that's when he heard a sexy female voice, and a light feeling of a hand on his back.
He turned slowly, keeping his expression neutral. Once he realized it was Lexi, he smirked. "Hmm. You could get a guy going with that voice." he teased, with a smile. "But I'm not that bad. I was just having fun." he added, hiding his frustration. He caught enough flak from his blood sister. He sure didn't need it from a girl he considered a sister. Besides, he was just having fun. It's not like he'd be doing anything really dumb, like sleeping with the girl he was dancing with.
Joshua gestured towards the now open seat beside him, before glancing back up at Lexi. "Or did you really want to dance with me?" he asked, his dark eyes bright with excitement. He wasn't sure why, but he was really happy and excited about being here tonight.
