She was so thankful that he broke the awkward moment with a joke. She smiled wide and giggled while nodding.
"Well that just means you're a way better person then the rest of the world. She relaxed a bit but couldn't help but play with her hair noticeably, then the foot tapping started. She took another sip of her coffee then smiled wide.
"You're right! I've been trying to tell everyone the same thing, but no one believes me. I'm very happy you understand!" That went well she thought, he didn't laugh, he wasn't mean, and she didn't die either. Things were going beautifully, and maybe it'd stay that way of she didn't fuck up.

Shane sat back in his seat and laughed a little. "Naw, I'm no better- I just know what it's like to feel like you have to hide something." Boy did he ever. He had known about his fathers affair for months before his mother found out, and it had killed him every day keeping it from her. He still felt like a bad son for doing it, but there wasn't much he could do now but keep as close to his mom as possible without smothering her.
"Well, myself? I'm terrified of horses. Anything that big and that hairy deserves being scared of." He laughed. His mother had had horses, made him come to the stables all the time and he grew to resent the smell of horse poop on his shoes. "Not to mention the first memory I have of horses is one throwing up on me."

There was really something about Shane that she felt connected to him. She didn't know what it was that he had in his life to make him the way that he was and he didn't know what she did but she knew that they could relate. A stab of pain went to the heart when she finally realized that he must have experienced something horrible. She felt bad for him, he was so nice. Only people like her deserved to feel pain.
He mentioned his fear of horses and smiled a bit. "Aw, come on. They aren't that bad." She took another sip and pulled all the loose hairs forward and played with them. "Really they're awesome animals, believe me if you've been around them as much as I have, you get lots of horrible poop smells and throwing up." She giggled and continued "Kinda like you."

"Hahahahaha." He laughed bluntly, soon after blowing her a raspberry. He didn't quite know what to say to that- and that was his best come-back. Oh well. "You know though, technically, if they only had two feet they'd be Saskawatches? And you know what that means. If horses only had two legs they'd eat humans for breakfast, lunch, dinner and midnight snack. See, i've put a lot of thought into this." He laughed, reaching over to steal another sip of her coffee.
He had made him his mind- Kaylee was a genuine, sweet girl who he'd like to spend more time hanging around. There weren't that many people back home you could have a serious conversation about Saskawatches with. Not that there was much of a thing called a serious situation about saskawatches...but oh well.

She giggled loudly as he blew her a rasberry. She hated them, many people liked to do it to her as torture. She listened to his explination that went on and on and the whole time all she could do is laugh and nod.
"I only have two comments on that. 1. You're right and 2. I did not know that." She laughed stealing her cup from his hands.
"Heeey, did YOU buy this coffee you coffee stealer" She snipped jokingly. "Go buy your ownnnnn" She giggled loudly.

He nodded as she agreed, and was just about to take another drink from her coffee before she took it off his hands. "Hey..." It took him a second to justify why she should let him drink her coffee, but it took a glance down at his new kicks to kick him into action.
"Well, no I didn't buy my own because I maxed out my card on the new shoes you made me buy." He said pathetically, twiddling his thumbs in his lap. Ahh, an image of pathetic teenage boy that really wanted this girls coffee- it was beautiful.

She laughed and nodded not believing him. "Mhm maxed out? If you want to max out a credit card you'd have to be with me for way longer then a couple hours." She said, she noticed they had been sitting there for a while. She passed the coffee over to him "You can have it, I didn't like it all that much" She lied. She did like it, but she could only drink so much. She knew the only way he'd take it if she forced him to. That was the kinda guy he was. She had only known him for an hour or so and she already felt like they were close. Maybe that's cause they could have fun with each other.
Kaylee stood up and brushed herself off and looked up at him. "I think we were supposed to go back to your place but we got too distracted with talking. Do you still wanna head over there, or do you have something else in mind?" She leaned a bit on her right leg picking up her purse and putting it over her shoulder, pulling some hair behind her ears revealing her deep blue eyes.

For some reason, he could absolutely believe the two of them could max out in a matter of minutes together- but he wouldn't try it. At least not today. He didn't even have to look at his watch to know they'd spent quite a fair bit of time sitting at this table, and he didn't feel bad about it either. Back at home, he'd be obligated to spend the entire free day with the boys hanging out on the beach surfing while the girls sat back and watched- it felt good to have a real conversation with someone. As she offered him her coffee, he grimaced and said no, pushing it back to her.
"You kidding me? That stuff tastes like Panther Piss." He teased. There was no way he would take her coffee off of her, not even if she wouldn't finish it. He followed her actions as she got up, but he had to admit- she looked much better when she did it. She looked like she was almost...glowing?
"Yeah, I've got no other plans or original ideas whatsoever- do you wanna head back to my place? It's not much, but it's there and I can attempt to cook for you." He offered with a laugh- note the TRY. Yeah, it could be interesting. The last thing he had tried to cook other than toast was spaghetti, but it had burnt to the bottom of the pan.

She rolled her eyes and laughed, yet again not believing a word he said. "Sure Shane, Sure. That's why you couldn't get your hands off of it. She smiled taking the cup and throwing it in the trash. She always felt bad about throwing stuff away. She loved children with all her heart and every time something like that touched a trash can, faces of starving children all over the world came into her head. Her heart would drop, but she realized she could never do anything about it. There was no way she could mail the rest of her coffee to some dieing six-year-old in Africa. "Panther piss?! Where have you ever tasted that? I'm sure you wanted it just cause it was mine." She laughed nodding her head.
Shane suggested going back to his house and she automatically agreed almost cutting him off. There were parts of the day where she just wanted to lay down, and relax. She's always go go go and it's nice to have a nice relaxing afternoon. She didn't care what his place looked like she just wanted to lay down. She was a little hungry as she heard her stomach rumble.
"Looks like my stomach made the choice for us. Your place it is." She really didn't care about his cooking, anything would do her good.

"No my dear, not even panther piss in YOUR cup could ever taste good." He replied rather dryly, before bursting into laughter. "It's a figure of speech dummy." He said, shaking his head at her in disbelief. "Your coffee tastes much better just because it is YOURS." He said, giving her a gracious boy. "Oh great and wise one." He added, looking up and grinning at her. Standing back up straight, he offered her his arm to walk with him.
"Alright- what are you in the mood for?" He asked, sauntering down the street with her. "Perhaps mac and cheese? French toast? Bagel and creme cheese?" He offered, one after the other. "Or perhaps we could order a pizza when we get there." He laughed, looking down at her. "It would probably be the least hazzardous."
ooc: SO SORRY! No muse.

She laughed while nodding. He was right, she was a dummy. Sometimes she'd be the stupidest thing that walked. "Hey, be nice! I know I'm a dummy!" She smiled. As she smiled she realized that she hadn't been this joyful, this happy, smiling this much in an extremely long time. She hoped that she could never go home. Spend forever just being with Shane.
Most of the time when someone made fun of her she got worked up, thinking that everyone hated her. It was her paranoia coming out. She had extreme paranoia issues ever since her middle school years. Her father never cared for her and didn't understand the pain and suffering she went threw having to go every day worried about every last little thing. It drew her tired with all the energy it took. Finally a school nurse recommended she go to a doctor and get her issues checked out. Her father agreed, but never took her. "Not enough time" he said. Finally the school nurse took her, probably out of pity, but Kaylee didn't care, she was being partcially taken care of. The doctor prescribed her on a medication and that's what she's been on since.
Protection was always something Kaylee longed for. I'm sure that's why she adored Shane. He protected her and was willing to do things for her. Growing up her father did nothing and her mother was dead. Rarely throughout her life would anyone show any care. When someone does though, she never takes it for granted.
She linked her arm in his as they exited out the Starbuck's and onto the sidewalk. "I could kill for some Mac and Cheese. It's so good!" She giggled again and tucked her hair behind her ear looking over and up at him as they walked side by side. She had a feeling, this is going to be a good night.

If Shane had any idea what her past was like, he wouldn't quite know what to say. He couldn't have just said 'oh, I know how you feel' or 'hey, it happens to the best of us'. The simple fact was, he had no idea how she felt, and it had never ever happened to him. He had always just gotten along with people- he was just one of those guys. It seemed like he had known everyone back home, and everyone had known California Shane. It seemed that in the hallways at school, everyone would wave and he would wave back to everyone- he didn't care who they were or where they came from, he was nice to them anyway. He never had a problem with people, and people never had a problem with him. If they did, they kept a pretty good secret.
"Alright, Mac Cheese for the lady." He said with a nodd and a laugh, continuing on down the street with her towards his car. "I'm warning you, we may have to call the fire bregade, I've got a fire extinguisher in the dorm but you never know what could happen when me and an oven tango." He was being perfectly honest too- he was a hopeless cool. Maybe he should pick up a cookbook or something, teach himself. He would have to learn one day.
"Did you drive here? Cause if so that may be an issue..." He asked, looking down into her big blue eyes. Thank goodness she had to talk again next, they were quite breathtaking.
